Publisher's summary

In the realm of Ishreedin, humans and elves have a deep animosity for each other that spans centuries. Though fragile peace now exists through a treaty, fate is not often kind to those caught in the middle.

Born of a secret marriage between the human king and the elven princess, five half-elven daughters understand—better than anyone—that their fate was signed away long before they were born. After their mother mysteriously disappears, the sisters find themselves at the center of a millennia-old curse, which becomes the catalyst for a whirlwind of events that will throw the five sisters into unknown adventures. Their destinies now hang on the decisions they make while discovering themselves in ways no one knew possible.

Elves, Dragons and Adventure

A king with five daughters must politically dance with many in order to keep them safe. Half-human and half-Elven, the daughters find themselves embroiled in a life-or-death situation. Each one’s destiny was decided long ago. The bond between the sisters is strong and it will take their trust, faith, character, and intelligence to set them on the right course.

C.B. Haight weaves a fantastic story of sisters with a secret to hide that could prove deadly for them and their father. Each character is structurally strong displaying a strength of character that is vital to this story and with growth potential that will add to the series. The dialogue, interaction between characters, and situations they find themselves in are captivating and well-developed. This is a story that captures and holds the listener's attention.

The narrator, Ian Russell enhances the story with his talented voice and ability to capture the essence of each character perfectly. He speaks clearly and with a steady cadence punctuated with tonal inflections and pace changes that are appropriate. The unique voices he utilizes are rich and keep the story flowing smoothly.

Overall, this is an intriguing book filled with unique characters, magic, and situations that are exciting and captivating.

Good story for a specific audience

The targeted audience for this book is younger teenagers that are new to fantasy that would enjoy female protagonists. If your a part of that I think you'll love this book. For me who is not a part of that audience I found the story a little generic and slow. I admittedly only made it through half of the book before calling it quits. the story was too run of the mill and I felt the characters were a little too perfect and didn't have any flaws. I wasn't connecting, or even knew what the character arcs were. For me it was hard to get through, that said my wife really enjoyed it (who read these types of books when she was young) and looks forward for the sequel.
