Great story!!

I first read this book in the late 80’s. Yes I’m old. I have since read it and Blood Star multiple times. It’s one of those stories that fill a void when I can’t find anything else worth reading so I was pleasantly surprised to find out it had been made into an audiobook.
I gave the performance 4 stars, it’s probably closer to 4.5+.

I highly recommend this audiobook and anxiously await Blood Star.

Great book!

This is right up my alley for historical fiction. Takes a little bit to get in to and then is great. Listen at 1.25 speed as another review noted.

GOOD It could have been Great!

It could have been Great, bb B V but the Central Character spent way too much time mentally agonizing over his decisions

Wonderful Story

I am actually reviewing The Assyrian and Book 2 The Blood Star. These books are of epic proportion. It is a story you will not forget. It is about an honorable Prince who has to deal with jealousy from a brother. The broken promises of love and its driven aftermath. The only negative for me was that the brutality sometimes made me cringe, but it was a brutal time in the world's history. I enjoyed this story and I believe you will to. It keeps you enthralled and wanting more.

A fantastic saga

I read the book several years ago. It’s so good, I had to listen to it again.

Excellent Story. so so narration

One of my favorite books, I was very excited. Absolutely horrible narrator. Why is he whispering ? It's like one of those ASMR relaxation stories. very disappointed.

The story holds up, still.worth a listen

An old favorite

The way to listen to the narration, is to speed it up a little.

Priceless! I high recommend it

The quality of this historical fiction is superior to many world classics. Except for minor historical flaws, it was a pleasure to listen to this marvelously well-conceived plot that trots along precise details of the era. BRAVO!
