Publisher's summary

Terror in Texas begins with a biological attack on US soil. The ensuing chaos spreads anarchy and death. Adding to the confusion, the dead reanimate and attack the living. Unlikely heroes amid the chaos are a young mother, a disabled veteran, and a hopeless alcoholic. Who will escape San Antonio to see friends and loved ones again? Will the infection sweep over the entire nation?

Liz Jameson and her daughters separate while attempting to leave the city. While trying to find her daughters, Liz is rescued from certain death by Vietnam veterans, who volunteer to aid her in her quest.

Struggling to remain sober, Matt Monroe and fellow soldiers rescue an unusual group of survivors during their trek across the state.

Steve Benton, a double amputee, faces multiple dangers, and not all are undead as he attempts to guide his small band of survivors from the VA facility where they are trapped at the beginning of the attack.

It’s a race for safety, and not all will survive.

Noooooo!!

Yep, this is EXACTLY what I said when the narrator said, 'the end.'
I mean...11 hours of audio were just not enough! I need more!!
This is one of the best Apocalypse/Zombie books I have read in a long time. The characters are believable and well developed. I mean they are true to their nature and own trauma during this horrible time.
The gross scenes are...GROSS. I actually had to fast forward a few times because of the time of day I was listening to it. lol
Speaking of listening, Dallas Britt did a fantastic job with the characters. I there were times I forgot that I was listening to a book and not to a movie. Great story teller!
I NEED book 2 in my life!

Lots of Nonstop action

Good story, Great narration. Would have given it a higher review were it not for cursing. While it wasn't constant it was more than I cared for. Narrator did an awesome job of separating the voices for the various characters. All in all its a good read,

Good story, inexperienced narrator

Story is average but a good one nevertheless. Characters, with exception of one, Tate, are likable. She, however, seems to have no purpose. The narrator seems to think he needs to emphasize the character’s name every sentence about them. TATE shot the rabbit, the TATE ate the rabbit. Ugh. If the story wasn’t good I’d had to stop listening.

Decent start to a ZA series except for one thing

I really liked all the non stop action in this book and will get the rest in the series when they come out on Audible. As far as a zompoc series goes, so far this one is really good and I highly
recommend it to all!

What I really want to say is PLEASE get a new narrator! Never mind that he mispronounces basic words throughout… I can deal with that. What I can’t deal with and what made me crazy is the constant pauses at the beginnings of each sentence.
Matt [pause…] turned to Larry
Jake [pause…] picked up a backpack
Larry [pause…] opened the door
Tate [pause…] leaned her head out the window
It’s incredibly frustrating and distracting and frustrating found myself lost and not knowing what was happening in the story.
I’m sure Dallas Brit is a really nice person but I can’t handle listening to his narration. Please get a new narrator otherwise these books won’t do well on Audible.

I love a good zombie book

Okay okay-where do I start??? I love zombie books so I was excited to get a free audio version of this book. I have listened to a lot of zombie books over the years-saving All Dead so I have something to look forward to. So this book has a good premise-a slightly different look on the subject. The characters are likable and easy to relate to. Mainly good folks out to help others which is nice. However it moved very slow-tons of details about every move that could have been summed up in a sentence-I mean I understand wanting to be in the moments with the characters but it’s a bit much-don’t really need a step by step explanation of how a character gathered supplies or climbed or fell out of a ceiling. Another thing is all the name using such as ‘Steve heard the truck in the distance” then Steven lifted his eyes’ then ‘’Steve sighed’—we get it - it was Steve the whole time.-how about Steve heard the truck in the distance, lifted his eyes and sighed? This happened over and over and add in the emphasis the narrator put on the names-seems like if I had seen it in type the names would’ve been in bold. That was my main issue with the narration-other than that it was great-narrator did well distinguishing between characters and ‘voices’.

With all that said, I did enjoy the book and I want to know what happens. I just hope the next one moves a bit faster. An entire book-2 mins shy of 11 hours of my life and maybe a week passed-maybe it was all the meticulous details!!!

Honest

This storyline is much more in alignment with what we should be seeing from post apocalyptic writings.

the narrators voice fits the the regional experience for where this takes place and he is always on point with the emotional range of them all.

recommend and personally excited to get further into this series.

Terror in Texas

I love it that independent authors are getting their chance to shine!
This was a great story of the best and worst of people in an apocalyptic world. The characters are wonderful and the story is both heartbreaking and hopeful. I really want to read the rest of the series to see how things go for the survivors!
