Destiny has chosen Skylar, and now it might destroy her.

Skylar is a girl with extraordinary power - a girl with a mission to use her Greater-Than gifts to stop the makers of Destiny from getting people hooked on their deadly drug. But Sky is still mastering her new abilities, and her first mission to destroy a Destiny lab leaves her best friend addicted to the drug. For a few days Cal will be able to walk again - until it kills him. Time is running out for Sky to save the world without sacrificing her friends - to become truly Greater-Than.

New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Suzanne Brockmann and her daughter, Melanie Brockmann, have written a pulse-pounding novel set in a near future both fantastic and frightening.

Skylar Reid is a "greater-than"...a person with special powers. She must keep these powers hidden because GT's are sometimes captured. Their blood is used to make a highly addictive drug called Destiny that kills its user in a matter of days. Sky has teamed with her best friend Calvin, her boyfriend Milo, and another GT named Dana, to find Dan's sister who was taken years ago. As they follow the clues to where some of the kidnapped girls may be hidden, Calvin is accidentally injected with Destiny. Now it's a race against time to find Dana's sister and save Calvin before the drug kills him.

This is the final book in the Night Sky series. The story started out very slow. Sky kept going on and on about Milo and wondering if he was drifting away from her. I ended up changing the speed on my audiobook in hopes to get through this portion and get to the meat of the story. Luckily, the story picked up when Calvin was injected with Destiny.

Slow start

This series is really good, but Melanie is a TERRIBLE narrator. The emotions weren't there, there were no attempts at changing her voice for different characters, nothing. It's not unbearable to listen to, but it's definitely a chore...

She needs to stop narrating books...

Would you consider the audio edition of Wild Sky to be better than the print version?

I think the Audible edition is excellent especially being read by one of the authors. Melanie Brockmann is an excellent narrator. She is never too dramatic which is the problem with too many narrators. I haven't read the print version of this book.

What other book might you compare Wild Sky to and why?

Wild Night is a great sequel to Night Sky which I listened to again before I listened to Wild Sky. Since there was such a long time between the publishing dates, reading the books together really demonstrates how well they support each other.

Have you listened to any of Melanie Brockmann’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She reads both of the Night Sky books excellently. I will have to check out any other books she may have narrated.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When one of the main characters was accidentally injected with the killer drug, I became very stressed. The anxiety continued to increase through the remainder of the book.

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this book to all people aged 14 - 75. I am 66 years old and like this series as much as I do Suzanne Brockmann's other books. I hope that she and Melanie are able to get further sequels written and published more quickly. I can't wait for the next book.
