For 17-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.
She can't tell anybody about what she does - they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can't control.
Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more that a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant....

I would never get another book read by Ellen Grafton!
Ellen Grafton ruined this book for me I had to just go get the book and read it myself. I was hoping for an exciting reader to make to book better. Natalie Gold Would have been much better!
The narrator talked like a fourteen year old. My sister and mother raved about this ya book so I really tried to give it a chance but after about thirty minutes I couldn't take anymore. Afterwards I borrowed their hard copy and really enjoyed the story. Since I spent most of the beginning cringing I reread the entire book and found that the narrator had completely confused the emotions in the book, acting frivolous and carefree in sections that were meant to be serious and somber. I recommend listening to the sample before purchasing.
Purchased for my classroom to convince a very reluctant reader that the book WAKE was worth her time. It worked, she was enthralled with WAKE and is now reading FADE.
This book was just "ok". Good concept, but the writing style is poor. Appropriate for teens, but way too juvinile for adults.
