Publisher's summary

An impossible romance. Bitter rivalries. Deadly choices.

To save the life of the boy she loves, Jacinda did the unthinkable: She betrayed the most closely guarded secret of her kind. Now she must return to the protection of her pride, knowing she might never see Will again... and worse, that because his mind has been shaded, Will's memories of that fateful night and why she had to flee are gone.

Back home, Jacinda is greeted with hostility and must work to prove her loyalty for both her sake and her family's. Among the few who will even talk to her are Cassian, the pride's heir apparent, who has always wanted her, and her sister, Tamra, who has been forever changed by a twist of fate. Jacinda knows that she should forget Will and move on, that if he managed to remember and keep his promise to find her, it would only endanger them both. Yet she clings to the hope that someday they will be together again. When the chance arrives to follow her heart, will she risk everything for love?

In best-selling author Sophie Jordan's dramatic follow-up to Firelight, forbidden love burns brighter than ever.

Also listen to the first book: Firelight.

Moar dragon drama!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Maybe, if only for the narrator. Like I said, very chill voice. The story, well...

Would you recommend Vanish to your friends? Why or why not?

Only if they read/listened to the first one and truly liked it. I had to get this because I'm a ridiculous completionist.

What does Therese Plummer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Yes. Life.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When I thought they were actually going to cut off her wings. That is seriously so messed up.

Any additional comments?

I'm over Will. I wish Jacinda was too.

As good as the first book!

Would you consider the audio edition of Vanish to be better than the print version?

Yes, because the reader is clear and pleasant to listen to while you just sit back and relax.

What other book might you compare Vanish to and why?

No comparison!

What does Therese Plummer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Listening to the book allows me to lay down and imagine the world and story being read to me.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me mad. The only thing I did not like about this book is how the author made the main character DUMB. It seems like every book I read now a days that has a girl for a main character, is portrayed as being a idiot. For example, this girl can breath fire and not take crap from anyone. And yet the author makes her weak and indecisive.

Any additional comments?

If you are the author of this book or any other books, I suggest making your main characters intelligent and not weak cloudy minded characters.

Vanish Lives Up To Firelight!

Where does Vanish rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Well, I've listened to too many audio books to make that assessment, but I will say it is definitely one of the best YA books I've listened to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jacinda, she's what makes this series.

Which scene was your favorite?

I think the beginning sene, because it picks up right where Firelight leaves off, and an exciting thing happens that is somewhat unexpected, at least not at the beginning of the novel.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me one of those people at the movies that tell the person on screen what to do, out of suspense, not something I normally do.

Any additional comments?

Sophie Jordan is a great writer she makes you feel what her characters are feeling, though I wished the novel was a bit longer, it has me pining for the third and final novel in this trilogy.
Also Therese Plummer did a fantastic job as always, she really brings this series to life.

Too many adjectives and not enough substrance

What disappointed you about Vanish?

This is the second in a series and sadly ends in a similar cliffhanger that the first did. The book doesn't offer a complete picture. It immediately picked up form the first book without giving you any back story and then ends without any conclusion. Is the author just trying to get you to buy another book?

I fell for it once, but am now getting off the cycle and will never have any closure for the characters.

Did not meet my expectations

Would you try another book from Sophie Jordan and/or Therese Plummer?

I've read quite a few books by Sophie Jordan that I really loved, so I'm sure I will. While I'm not about to go and look for books performed by Therese Plummer, I'm not going to skip a book because she's the reader.

Any additional comments?

It is possible that I would have liked this better if I had read the book instead of listened to it, but after devouring the first one, I found this one disappointing. The plot didn't feel as well thought out as in the first one. The love triangle plot felt a little forced and some of the events just seem random as opposed to plot driven, (for example - at one point a bear shows up which forces the main character to explain something to her hero that she didn't want to tell him making the confession feel unnatural at that juncture in the story). I'm generally a fan of Sophie Jordan (I've read a lot of her historical romances and some of her paranormal fiction) but this just didn't grab (never mind hold) my interest.

My Second Mistake

What was most disappointing about Sophie Jordan’s story?

The biggest mistake was that I bought both books in the series at the one time on special. Oh Well - lesson learnt.I often enjoy YA books eg. Hunger Games, however I do get tired of the same old plots in different scenery filled with angst and girls who like to think they are strong and have it all together but are indecisive and scatterbrains and can't decide which boy they will love. From the beginning this book was travelling on a downward spiral and I was disappointed because the concept was a new one for me.Yes, I acknowledge that it's my mistake - I should have looked into it a bit further before buying it.

What does Therese Plummer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The only thing that saved this book from refund was Therese Plummer's excellent narration. I would never have finished either book if I had to read them.

What character would you cut from Vanish?

Jacinda and her sister. Both very annoying.

Any additional comments?

Not for me.

yes and no

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

a less predictable/cliché story (romance), and a less headstrong heroine

Has Vanish turned you off from other books in this genre?

yes and no. I like paranormal, but this series is yet another example of the many many stories that build an interesting world with good characters and then fill it with a mediocre and predictable romance.

What aspect of Therese Plummer’s performance would you have changed?

Have listened to several of her performances, and she only has one male voice, which she uses for all males in every book. So too bad it isn't a very good male voice, to me it sounds like a 40-50 year old man wearing a suit, which is a problem when the hero is 18 and still in high school. Otherwise her narration is pleasant to listen to.

Frustrating

What disappointed you about Vanish?

While well written, the story is frustrating. This should be an EMO book, the main character takes everything on that everyone else causes as her responsibility. Constantly self loathing when she does what she should be doing and other people mess it up.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

If the author would stop with the constant self loathing, it would be a good book.
