it's almost

time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her - people with gifts - and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart - and Adam's life.

X-men meets V for Vendetta

I would say the main character Juliette is completely living Rogue's life from X-men ( with the same super power). The setting sounds like a possible near future with a V for Vendetta vibe. A new strict and overbearing establishment has complete control over society on a global scale, where unauthorized art, books ect. are destroyed and unruly people are incarcerated or institutionalized . Much like X-men Rogue...I mean Juliette finds an underground society made up of special people with different gifts as well, but her gift is still the most dangerous gift of all. Juliette fears being used as a weapon by either side. The underground society has a professor X named Castle that also has the same super power as professor X but he can walk. Juliette has two love interest and surprisingly both guys can touch her ( for the most part ) and the two guys (Adam & Aaron) are of course enemies much like Wolverine and Cyclops vying for Juliette's love. Oh and I forgot to mention there is a totally Darth Vader like character ( Anderson ) who is the head of the evil establishment and there is a totally "Luke, I am your Father" moment as well. I still loved it! The books were very entertaining and I am looking forward to the next book. Juliette is finally mad and is ready to fight back and its getting exciting :-)

I really enjoyed it

though I was upset at her many times im glad Kai voiced exactly what I thought. she was too far in her head with self hate and just weak minded mentality that it was annoying at times and he set her straight! I've never been so happy a mc getting called out for the bs and just giving her good tough love advise! when it came to spice I was often pissed because this is an extremely slow burn book and then we find out why it never got their with Adam. I was still upset though I love spice in my books and this wasn't it overall. hopefully she loses her virginity in the next book cause we are two books in already and she's still a Virgen! I enjoyed the plot twists and DRAMA of it all yess I was here for it just wish this wasn't so pg13. Hopefully next book gives me what I'm asking for or else it might just not be worth it for me.

Loved it!

I thought this book was going to be all about Adam and Juliette since at the beginning it was a bit slow with just end on end of lovey dovey stuff that just got boring to me but, trust me. When you reach half point through the contents of the book and on, it gets so much better.

I lost my copy of Unravel Me at a track meet so had to read the last section of the book via audiobook. Still enjoyed it though. Great narration.

When Superheros meet dystopian teen romance

I can recall listening to Shatter Me some months ago and being extremely irritated with Juliette’s weakness. She is so incredibly whiney, and I understand why, but come on already.

All she ever wanted was to be accepted. Now she is. She is surrounded by supernatural beings, yet she continues to whine whine whine. Oh I just learned I have amazing super strength? Let me whine about how this power is useful in killing. Oh there’s a war happening? Let me whine about my lovelife. Geez Louise, she is so complainy.

However, I absolutely adore this series. I just can’t put my finger on it, but it just draws me
in.

The author, Tahereh Mafi, has such a strange writing style. Everything she says is a metaphor; then she will go on to explain that it’s a metaphor. So, so strange. But, I love it. I love how Juliette will be complaining that there are no words to describe what she is feeling, so she will go on to list the types of words there are. Something like, “There are no prepositions, adverbs, or verbs to describe how I’m feeling.”

I think if I were actually reading the story, I would be annoyed, but Kate Simses depicts all of the characters in a loveable way. She is extremely talented – have you heard how she does James’ voice? Genius!

What Made Unravel Me Work:
Kenji. He is the comic relief of the story that actually had me laughing out loud. He is the voice of reason that puts Juliette in her place. He is funny, has a tragic past, but he still carries an air of mystery to him that makes him a pivotal member of the series.

The romance. Even though it drives me loony on occasion, I am still completely invested in Juliette’s tragic love-life. She is split between Adam and Warner – which is so awesome. I know love triangles are getting a bit overdone, but it is some juicy drama. I’m not going to get into details over what exactly transpires, but it’s fantastic.

The mystery. Some may argue that this story is a tad predictable. Maybe it is. But, I don’t care. It is still exciting to me to learn what may next happen to Juliette, and I’m dying to wait forever for the third installment.

The Shatter Me series is fantastic

I now own all of the Shatter Me Books in hard copies, on my kindle and NOOK, and now also in audible form. My daughter and I have bonded a lot over these books. We have had some great conversations about life, love and other mysteries! We started these when she was about 15. I would highly recommend them to Mothers and Daughters to share and talk together as women. (Note: Mom, there are definitely some blush moments. But even these led to some excellent conversations about tricky subjects, such as love vs lust. Consent vs assault, etc. Steal yourself and push through. Also, we read the books separately, and then talked about them. Now at 18 and 53, we can listen more comfortably together.)

Gets better and better

This series is like a poetic adventure I never wanted to end. The twists and turns were complicated, but without being confusing.
The plot hooking, intricate, and beautifully articulated. I'm absolutely certain I've found a new favorite to listen to over and over again!
