    Story
"Plot okay but some distateful elements"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A more sincere reader, less graphic sex and foul language among 14-16 year olds

Would you be willing to try another book from Stacey Wallace Benefiel? Why or why not?

    Probably not.

What three words best describe Martha Lee’s performance?

    Teenage angst, sarcasm

What character would you cut from The Zellie Wells Trilogy: 'Glimpse', 'Glimmer', 'Glow'?

Marcus in the third story ....didn't add anything to the story

    Any additional comments?

All in all, the plot was okay and kept my attention. However, there were several things that almost made me stop listening, except that I had spent a whole credit on this book! Ooops, forgot about the return it option. Perhaps I should have.

The readers voice, especially in the first half of the first book, dripped sarcasm and teenage disrespect with every word. Also her pronunciation at times seemed almost exaggerated, which distracted me.

I am a Christian, and the spiritual parts of the story interested me. The main characters are daughters of a Lutheran pastor. They go to youth group and et cetera, but there is no indication that they have a true faith in God, although they are swept up into an entirely different supernatural kind of good vs evil battle. I did appreciate, however, that the pastor dad was not ridiculed or made out to be a hypocrite, just somewhat confused and clueless at times.

I am a 40 year old mother of toddlers but I enjoy young adult fiction. For parents, there are a lot of questionable elements in these stories. It is assumed that kids will have sex when they are teenagers. There are 2 graphic sexual encounters between 16 years olds in the second novel. There are many gay characters in the story and one bisexual character, although no graphic descriptions of their relationships. Also, pretty much all of the teenagers use foul language at times throughout the series. I think there could be some discussion points for parents and kids reading these books together, but I don't think I'd want my teenager reading these stories without any input from a parent.

    Story
    "Disappointing"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    Teen Girls

What could Stacey Wallace Benefiel have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Too mush reflection and not enough plot.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narration was okay but didn't help the story any.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Zellie Wells Trilogy: 'Glimpse', 'Glimmer', 'Glow'?

    Too much to mention.

    Any additional comments?

The plot has potential but falls apart pretty quickly. The characters all reflect to intensely on every decision and there is to much self loathing. The same plot could have been accomplished with a third the length, and is to close to a bad soap opera for my taste. The explanations of the abilities was never satisfying.
