Publisher's summary

Armed only with a frying pan and her common sense, Tiffany Aching, a young witch-to-be, is all that stands between the monsters of Fairyland and the warm, green Chalk country that is her home. Forced into Fairyland to seek her kidnapped brother, Tiffany allies herself with the Chalk's local Nac Mac Feegle, aka the Wee Free Men, a clan of sheep-stealing, sword-wielding, six-inch-high blue men who are as fierce as they are funny. Together, they battle through an eerie and ever-shifting landscape, fighting brutal flying fairies, dream-spinning dromes, and grimhounds (black dogs with eyes of fire and teeth of razors) before ultimately confronting the Queen of the Elves, absolute ruler of a world in which reality intertwines with nightmare. And in the final showdown, Tiffany must face her cruel power alone.

In a riveting narrative equal parts suspense and humor, Carnegie Medalist Terry Pratchett returns to his internationally popular Discworld with a breath-taking tale certain to leave fans, new and old, enthralled.

"The book is full of witty dialogue and a wacky cast of characters....A funny and thought-provoking fantasy, with powerfully visual scenes and characters that remain with readers. A glorious read." (School Library Journal)

if you have kids: required book series.

Simply an amazing story, from one of humanity's finest creators. A tale of basic human morality deeply mixed in rib-cracking humor, all set on a relatable - yet wonderously imaginative - stage.

Very good! Performance was excellent

I loved this book. Pratchett is amazing, of course, but part of what put it over the top was the performer. He does a great Scottish accent and his delivery is superb. He doesn’t use falsetto with female characters (which is so ANNOYING in some other male performers) and has great pace and tone. Loved it

This was my favorite book as a kid and it still is

The book is hilarious and witty. I found my self laughing outloud several times. The voice actor does a decent job he sounds like how you expect some one to read a story, calming voice but the acting doesnt get too dinamic in emotion. He also does a good accent which is very entertaining when he does the Feegle voices.

Brilliant

Not only is the story excellent, but the performance adds greatly with the voices and accents.

A delightful listen!

What a fun and delightful romp! Terry Pratchett was a imaginative master of words and this book definitely shares that mastery. The narrator Stephen Briggs made it come alive! He is a master of the spoken word for sure. I found myself smiling and sometimes laughing out loud throughout the book. Off to fetch the second book! 🧹 🧙🏻‍♀️ 🔮

Great way to introduce discworld to my kids

Stephen Briggs did great voices and had lots of range in his reading. I liked how he also had laughing in the laughing parts as well.

One of Pratchett's very best.

My entire family participates when we listen to this book. Every time I revisit this work, Pratchett's writing makes me think, laugh, and sometimes cry a little. Well, at least tear up and sniffle, and FEEL something rich and real, and that experience is certainly worth the precious little time I have to indulge in a world full of literature. When I need to move from an emotional low, Pratchett is often good medicine.

A gift for Brown haired girls

One of my favorite books. I listen to it frequently. It reminds me that girls can do anything....even if they have brown hair and eyes.
