Publisher's summary

Jacky Faber, rich from her exploits diving for Spanish gold, has purchased the Lorelei Lee to carry passengers across the Atlantic. Believing she has been absolved of past sins against the Crown, Jacky docks in London to take on her crew, but is instead arrested and sentenced to life in the newly formed penal colony in Australia. To add insult to injury, the Lorelei Lee is confiscated to carry Jacky and more than 200 female convicts to populate New South Wales.

Not one to give in to self pity, Jacky rallies her sisters to "better" their position - resulting in wild escapades, brushes with danger, and much hilarity. Will Jacky find herself a founding mother of New South Wales, Australia? Not if she has anything to do about it!

L. A. Meyer received a master of fine arts from Boston University, and is currently the curator and exhibitor at the Clair de Loon Gallery in Bar Harbor, Maine. He lives in Corea, Maine. Katherine Kellgren has recorded over 60 audiobooks including Bloody Jack, which won an Audie Award, a Publishers Weekly Listen Up Award, and ForeWord magazine's Audiobook of the Year.

love this whole series

Would you listen to The Wake of the Lorelei Lee again? Why?

I love this series, Jackie is a strong and stubborn heroine, not so fond of the boy she is chaseing, he seems insipid to me. Every book has been good. Look forward to every new installment

Any additional comments?

even my boys love to read about jackie, but be warned she is unconventional and there is some semi adult situations in these books. My Nine year old wants to marry jackie Faber.

Great series

Still love these books even after listening to eight. The Wake is one of the best in the series, never getting slow and keeping the action going.

Great series. Superb narrator.

I loved the series. This is the type of book that is better listened to versus read because the narrator takes the story to the next level. Best narrator I have ever heard. The narrator of an audiobook can really help or hurt the book. This narrator helped the series.

Another solid entry, but not the best

The Bloody Jack series is fantastic, especially the narration. But I had some problems with the story this time, particularly the ending. If you're a fan, you won't want to miss this entry, even if it's not the best in the series.

yuck!

I am sorry to see the author farther degrade the character of Jackie, this book is really scrapping the bottom of the barrel. Being the "pet" of the Chinese woman really was absolutely disgusting. I won't be listening or reading anymore of the LA Meyer's book as they have become too filthy for me, let alone young children.

Getting a little sleezy Jacky

I love this series and I want to keep on reading but I feel like these books keep getting cruder and more vulgar. I'm an adult so I can take it but I would not let kids read this series.

Watch out--this one not YA

Have loved, loved, loved the Bloody Jack series. Beware with #8, though, if you are providing the books to young adult readers, as the content/tone in this one has jumped, in my opinion, from what I would consider young-adult material in books 1-7 to adult material here. Much more overt presentation of bawdiness, violence, cruelty, victimization. A surprising and not particularly welcome turn.
