"Grief, fear, and love set the novel's pace, and Macy's crescendo from time-bomb perfection to fallible, emotional humanity is, for the right readers, as gripping as any action adventure." (School Library Journal)
This is the best of Ms. Dessen's work: Macy is believable, relate-able and someone I would want to be friends with, her story is worth hearing. Her mom and sister also ring true and Wes is someone to dream about. The timeline is realistic; the story classic and well told. Ms. Nielsen's reading has perfect pitch for the subject and dialogue.
This story is also good for family trips, since the cursing is minimal and the content, while emotionally interesting, is mild. Better though for families with daughters.
I loved this book and I loved the audio version.
When I listened to the sample I heard a bit of irritating background noise but assumed it was because of the poor quality of my computer speakers. Not so. This narrator speaks as though she has a very dry mouth or something. The noises I heard are coming from her mouth. Absolutely grating. And she pauses for excessive amounts of time. Also, her voice is way too old to be believable as a seventeen year old girl. I regret downloading it, wish I had just read the paper copy.
After I listened to this book I went to Sarah's website as I wanted to learn where her story of loss came from. I downloaded this for my pre-teens to listen to but did so initially as a screening. I know that my children will definately benefit and be able to relate to the conflict of moving forward. I'm so grateful for the story and the narrator did an excellent job.
this is, in my opinion, Dessen's best work to date. Listening to it made me realize how well written it is, and made me misty eyed at times. the narrator was pretty good; the only problem i had was how she recited Wes's voice. i thought it was a little strange. Overall, this being my first Audible purchase, i will certainly purchase more books in the future. two thumbs way up!
The story was really encouraging and uplifting. I would've rather had more than one narrator for the male/female characters. Sometimes it was a little distracting having a female try to narrate a male's part. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend this book.
I love to read!!! Since I commute to work and school audible is so perfect! YA is my favorite genre.
lovely, sweet and fun.
This was a love story, I usually like fantasy but this was so sweet that if I could find more I would read them all the time.
The book was well written and the characters were developed well. When you have a personal connection with a character it makes you invested in the book and much more enjoyable.
The Truth About Forever: How finding the one can lead you to finding yourself.
This book was super sweet. It was a quick read. Some of the characters were quirky but it was really good. First Sarah Dessen book and I will be reading more after this.
i like the story. i read the book. but the lady that is reading it is not showing any emotion. she tell the story plain. i think you should have a 17 year old girl telling the story. they know what they are doing. she need to put some emotions into her voice. also i think it should be male voices reading the male parts. it make no since that the girl is talking as the boy. it makes the story dull. it makes people not want to listen to it. My opinion is that this can put anyone to sleep. I DON'T LIKE THE AUDIBLE VERSION OF THE BOOK THAT COMES FROM THIS WEBSITE. GET SOMEONE BETTER TO TELL THE STORY. YOU NEED DIFFERENT CHARACTER FOR EACH PERSON. A BOY FOR THE BOY CHARACTER AND A GIRL FOR THE GIRL CHARACTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I H.A.T.E HOW THE WOMAN IS READING. TATA FOR NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I HATE IT
ALOOOOOOOOOOOT BETTER. MORE EMOTIONS. MORE PEOPLE TELLING IT
WHEN I READ THE ACTUAL BOOK. YES
YOU NEED BETTER PEOPLE TO TELL THE STORY
The recording was choppy...There were moments where all I could hear was the saliva in the narrators mouth. So gross and distracting.
