But her blossoming beauty isn't the only reason for their change in behavior. For as Belly enjoys the sun and surf, she'll ultimately learn the painful secret that dampens the spirit of her childhood friends.

"Romantic and heartbreakingly real ... the beautifully written novel ... perfectly blends romance, family drama, and a coming-of-age tale - one that is substantially deeper than most." (Library Journal)
I loved both the print and audio versions. This is a book I can re-read or listen to it over and over again.
Say something about yourself!
The story is so fresh and beautiful! It makes you feel as if you are getting to spend the summer at the beach house in Cousins!
The whole book is memorable, but its just the beginning for Belly....
Belly for sure
This book was very good. The author takes you from the present to the past to give you insight on all the characters and how they grew up together.
Maybe. It's a fun, light read, but it lacks substance.
I read both To All the Boys I've loved Before and the Ashes to Ashes trilogy. The Summer I
Turned Pretty doesn't compare, to say the least. I was surprised by the lack of plot. I'm pretty sure this was her first book, and she's improved tremendously since writing it.
Too many pauses. She has a nice voice; she's easy to listen to, but she takes so many unnecessary pauses. Her tendency to pause in the middle of sentences (I suppose for dramatic effect--though none is needed) makes for choppy listening. Also, in my opinion, the pauses in between character dialogue were far too long. It's a shame, because she has great potential, but I would have preferred listening to this book read by a different narrator.
Yes. I think it would actually make for an entertaining film (one of those cheesy teen rom-coms). As for the actors, a young Mandy Moore would play a good Belly. I can't decide who I'd like to see play the boys.
The story is very nice, and it's beautiful and I really enjoyed how the caracters are with one another. Their relationships are so real.
When Belly found out that Suzanna has cancer again, it was a very intense moment for me to read. I'm a sensible person and it was just wow...
I really like Belly, I think she's a very natural teenager and i really like the fact that she's down to earth and stuff.
The end of the book. I just can't wait to listen to the second one just to know what will happen!
I like to read VERY much .. I'm obsessed with reading I don't have time to actually read a book so I've been a listener for three years now
As a plot : i found the story was good with very relate-able characters and good dialogue
As an Audio book it was good but the narrator is so SLOW and i got bored at the middle of the book until i fast forward it into 2×
but you can read it if you like a bed time story teller
