Publisher's summary

Nicholas Flamel appeared in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter - but did you know he really lived? And his secrets aren't safe! Discover the truth in book three of the New York Times best-selling series the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel.

The problem: Perenelle Flamel is trapped. What’s worse: Sophie and Josh might soon be as well.

Paris was destroyed by John Dee and Niccolo Machiavelli, but the missing pages of the Book of Abraham the Mage are still protected from Dee and the Dark Elders.

Except Perenelle is imprisoned on Alcatraz and now Scatty is missing, leaving a weakening Nicholas as Sophie and Josh's only protection in Lond, a city Dee has under his control.

The only hope of defeating Dee and escaping London is to find an Elder to teach the twins the third elemental magic - Water Magic. The bad news? The lone option is Gilgamesh the King, and he is absolutely insane.

Good series. Recommended!

Hard to pause. Easy to listen to.
Good writing and good story. Narration was masterfully executed, it is a book I could listen to again. Books like this make the membership worth having.

Great book, but you can’t switch narrators

This narrator is great, but unfortunately since Paul is not the original narrator of the series from book 1 and 2 it just sounds “wrong.” Both pronounce things differently and have different accents. It is more disappointing than I think it should be.

Disregard the snobs!

Don't listen to all the negative comments. I personally read the first two books before listening to the third on audio so I don't know the sound of the other narrators, but I believe he sounds just fine (although my wife hates him lol)

As far as the story, it's detailed with a lot of background of important characters so I don't understand why everyone is just craving constant action when they do a great job explaining a lot of the new people you meet. I do think this book could be combined with the next and the author maybe just split them to get a lil extra money but hey! it's a great series and worth the money and time reading or listening. I have all the books and all the audio's

Great story

Love the book, did not love the narrator's accents. They might be the worst of all the narrators in this series of audiobooks. Oh well!

Building frustration

I have been a fan of this series for years, I love the way Scott ties the mythologies together. Admittedly with age I now find the twins a little more irritating than I once did, but they're written as teenagers, so that's to be expected. I have two gripes with the performance by Boehmer, which keep niggling at me:
1- He mispronounces several names, some of which have been written phonetically in previous books, or could be looked up online quickly (most notably Hecate, which he pronounces Heh-ket, but is pronunced Heh-ka-tay.) Every repetition of Heh-ket takes me out of this world, as the people speaking the names have met the Goddess and would know how to pronounce it
2- I understand this is a stylistic choice to allow each character to have an individual voice, but the level of accents in people's voices are supposed to change. Nicholas is supposed to speak with a neutral accent (somewhere between English and American) but is always given a French accent, the French lilt is supposed to come through during moments of stress or surprise.

Good overall, but not what I was expecting.

Although this book left me wanting to rush to the next book, I can't help to be reminded of what I was thinking of thre entire book.... it didn't give much info on the Sorceress. If that should be the title of the book, then why not much more information. smh. Either way, I'm hooked

I already knew I loved this book, its outatanding! But the performance is the best so far, I'm glad this narrator finishes the series.
