#1 New York Times bestseller

A sweeping stand-alone fantasy romance from Kiera Cass, author of the beloved, bestselling Selection series.

Kahlen is a Siren—bound to serve the Ocean by luring humans to their watery graves with her voice, which is deadly to any human who hears it. Akinli is human—a kind, handsome boy who’s everything Kahlen ever dreamed of. Falling in love puts them both in danger… but will Kahlen risk everything to follow her heart?

This star-crossed YA romance is sure to captivate readers who grew up loving The Little Mermaid or fans of Jennifer Donnelly’s Waterfire Saga.

So let me start by saying this is not typically what I read, so maybe the fact that I didn't care much for it just comes down to personal taste.

IMO, thin plot, two dimensional characters, and narration that honestly reminded me of those Barbie PC games I used to play when I was a kid in the 90s. I dont know, the voice is weirdly girly and upbeat, and didn't hold a lot of emotion beyond squealing girly delight and depressed, angsty sobs.

I definitely think I just don't fit the target audience for this book - too young for me, and I'm only 22.

Disappointed

I read to escape into different worlds, but Kiera's stories are depressing! I decided not to finish it and I never quit on a book!

Real life is sad enough

Not a very exciting story line. Seemed like a very young teenagers idea of love. Lots of whining and a not-plausible love story and I'm open to alot. Hard to make it trough the whole book. Really like all of Kiera Cass's other books but this was not to that level!

Ok story

Fun and oh so serious. A fantasy that holds true human emotions. Loving so deeply that letting go is your only option.
