Narrator is so hard to follow

The narrator sounds like a robot. I heard this book is really good but the audible is horrible.

An entertaining light story

What made the experience of listening to The Selection the most enjoyable?

The author was a good fit to the story, which was nicely written. The plot is a bit obvious, but I enjoyed the book anyways.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Selection?

A good pace to the plot line and a good reader.

What does Amy Rubinate bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings life to the characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Probably what the book cover says about the 34 girls and only 1 crown. dun dun duuuuun.

Did I just have a book read to me by Siri?

Sweet little fairy tale story. The ending was rather unsatisfying, but that’s just to get you on to the next book. It’s quite short, so I feel like they could have combined them into fewer books in the series. But I’m enjoying the plot line.

The reading performance is quite disappointing. The narrator sounds completely robotic. It gradually improved a bit as the story went on, but I almost turned it off after the first chapter because her voice annoyed me so much. All in all, I’m glad I stuck it out, though. Just started book two and I feel like she’s getting better.

I love this story!

can't wait to get the next book; wish this was a movie: love, secrets, chemistry, and etc. It reminds me of one of my fav biblical storys bout Esther and pride and prejudice to.a point on that one.

Fun Listen

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audio book to people who like coming of age love stories. It has an interesting story and I liked the main character. The performance of the reader could have been a little better, but her voice was pleasant to listen to. I am eager to listen to the next book in the series. America is a character that is easily likeable. I also liked that the main character was more feminine than characters like Katniss in Hunger Games and Tris in Divergent. I love those stories too, but it was kind of fun reading a book about a strong, main female character that is not physically aggressive. She is a more realistic character because most women aren't going to be shooting a bow and arrow or getting into a physical fight. I like that America's strength was in her personality. She is a likeable character. I also liked Maxin and Aspin. I wonder where the relationships with both men will go. Great listen. Glad I found it.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked America as a character and thought she was optimistic. She didn't spend hardly any time moping about her situation. She made the best of her circumstances and was an interesting lead character.

Which character – as performed by Amy Rubinate – was your favorite?

I liked how she presented America. Her voice was well done. The other voices could have been better, but I liked the overall quality of the reading.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I found the scene where America makes Aspin a meal with the extra money she makes an intriguing scene. In that scene Aspin chooses pride over America's generosity. America understood that no matter what she'd love Aspin, but he was so caught up in materialism that he couldn't see all America really wanted was him.

Any additional comments?

Fun book to listen to on my long drives too and from college.

The Bachelor meets Hunger Games meets Divergent

This story draws you in. You quickly get invested in the characters and don't know which way to "root". Characters you love, characters you love to hate. It has it all.

not an easy start

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

the story is good. I like the Author and and will read the sequels. But won't order them on Audible. The Narrator reads choppy and ends every sentence in a downward tone.

How could the performance have been better?

Hate the reader. She is Chopping and difficult to follow. The annunciations are not unlike a computer generated voice. Not a passionate story teller. Ask a Younger "brighter" voice to read the book as if she is telling (not reading) the story.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Perhaps.

Great story

I kept picturing a really amazing movie while listening to this but it was really difficult to get over her voice. It sounded too much like Siri or some kind of fake, inhuman voice.
