Publisher's summary

There's a murderer on the loose - but that doesn't stop the girls of St. Etheldreda's from attempting to hide the death of their headmistress in this rollicking farce.

The students of St. Etheldreda's School for Girls face a bothersome dilemma. Their irascible headmistress, Mrs. Plackett, and her surly brother, Mr. Godding, have been most inconveniently poisoned at Sunday dinner. Now the school will almost certainly be closed and the girls sent home - unless these seven very proper young ladies can hide the murders and convince their neighbors that nothing is wrong.

Julie Berry's The Scandalous Sisterhood of Prickwillow Place is a smart, hilarious Victorian romp, full of outrageous plot twists, mistaken identities, and mysterious happenings.

Unexpectedly delightful

This book was so fun and unexpected. The writing was sweet and delightful. It's not sophisticated writing but it isn't any less enjoyable for that.

Good Fun!

I downloaded this book to listen to with my daughter on a road trip. We both loved it! Jane Entwhistle is one of my favorite readers, which makes the book so much more enjoyable.

It's a cute story, well
worth the listen.

Great read, clever, amusing story

This is a wonderful Victorian romp, complete with delightful characters, clever plot twists and charming language, well read by the equally wonderful Jayne Entwistle.

Decent story...drags a bit

The concept sounded quite interesting, but the story tended to drag a bit. Aside from the slow-moving story, I found the "nicknames" for the characters so annoying that I nearly returned the book without finishing it. If you can stick through "Smooth Kitty" and "Dull Elinor" "Pocked Louise" and so forth, it's a fun enough fluffy story.

Irritating

I wanted to like this book but I just don't. I usually love YA fiction. The syrupy silliness and the girl's stupid names bug me the most. I'm on chapter 6 and I just can't finish it. I can't believe all of the great reviews!

Wonderful

I just loved this book, super easy to listen to and a cute story of sisterhood and intrigue and murder. Wish this was a series. Sad its over.

lighthearted murder mystery

kind of a combination of Arsenic and Old Lace and Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter is Dead

Delightful

A charming, oddly funny, light mystery. I especially appreciate reading a story placed in the Victorian period that isn't so heavy and portrays the depth and wit of young women.

Delightful

Such an enjoyable, madcap mystery. And Jane Entwistle is one of my favorite narrators. If you like the Flavia de Luce books (which she also reads), you'll like this.
