Publisher's summary

This program also contains seven bonus radio transmissions from Pittacus Lore!

Until the day I met John Smith, Number Four, I'd been on the run alone, hiding and fighting to stay alive.

Together, we are much more powerful. But it could only last so long before we had to separate to find the others....

I went to Spain to find Seven, and I found even more, including a tenth member of the Garde who escaped from Lorien alive. Ella is younger than the rest of us, but just as brave. Now we're looking for the others - including John.

But so are they.

They caught Number One in Malaysia.

Number Two in England.

And Number Three in Kenya.

They caught me in New York - but I escaped.

I am Number Six.

They want to finish what they started.

But they'll have to fight us first.

Entertaining Story

I think I liked "The Power of Six" better, but this was still an entertaining story. We received a little more insight into the characters' personalities and their respective legacies, in addition to meeting another gaurde member. The last half of the book was pretty action packed too.

The love triangle/square that formed during the second book took a back seat in book three. I think that whole angle was a little unbelievable when you threw Sam in there. I'm not quite sure if the story line is dead or might revive itself later, but it didn't really come to a head. Certainly not in typical teenage girl fashion. Overall it was a very good story and I'm excited for the release of book four.

ending

Could have done without the ending recordings. Hard to hear and although the distortion of the voice sounds like it's coming from a tape the words themselves aren't formed well at all to make it sound professional.

Great book but ending performance was painful

Loved the book save for the end "recording". I think they could have used a better technique and one that did not hurt your ears or strain to make out the words.

Neil is close to ruining this...

A really fun story, if you ignore the writing style and focus on the story, that is on the borderline for me. Neil Kaplan's voice characterizations are so painful. This story would be so much better if he stuck with the Number 4 voice.
Sam sounds like a nerd with a permanently stuffed up nose. The girl voices are so very bad. Number 8 isn't done well but it's the least painful of his characterizations. Number 9 growls more than talks. It's a rough go when Neil is reading...but the other narrators do a great job.

Good Story Poor Execution

90% of the story and reading was good but then you get to the last section and the voice actors do voices for characters who have voice actors it’s s bit annoying. The worst part however is the weird section that fills the last 15 minutes of the book, it’s awful sounding kinda like nails on a chalk board.

Interesting story, but it’s stretched a bit thin

The concept and the world building of this series is great. It’s why I keep listening. But the plot itself is starting to get a little weak. The characters are starting to lose their charm and are becoming a but silly. Some authors can write young adult novels without them becoming childish, these authors don’t quite have that talent. I don’t know if I will finish the series. This book would have been a good ending

From the movie to the books

I’m hooked. The books are Way better than the movie. This book would make a very good TV Show!!!!

Dragged at the end.

Pittacus Lore's descriptions were almost incomprehensible, their audio was terrible. The fight scenes at the end seemed contrived and overdone.

Shower, rinse, repeat

Book 3 is a lot like book 2, just with additional characters. Another round of Four on the run with a new buddy; this time, it’s Nine, a fun character that I quite liked even though he’s narrated like a growly, middle aged surfer dude. Once again, the book proceeds along two separate paths. The other path involves Six, Seven, and Ten traveling and meeting another Guardian. Once again, the two paths won’t converge until the final hour, where there will be a battle with The Mogs being mowed down by the dozens until the Guardians hit the brick wall that is The Big Bad... only to not resolve anything as each side separates and regroups.

The cringe-worthy love story parts, the awfully narrated females, and the clunky plot points have steadily worn down my enjoyment of this series. Even focusing on the comic pulp, I’ve lost patience with the inanity of raising kids to be saviors of Earth and Lorian without explaining anything (why stay separated? Why can’t they open their chests? who is the Big Bad and what are his powers?). All these hidden things build frustration rather than mystery or suspense.

I’m on the fence whether I will continue, even when later books are on sale. I know for sure these aren’t full-credit worthy.

Best of the series, so far.

This one is my favorite so far. The story comes together well and the transition between the various characters was very well done.
