Publisher's summary

"There are only two reasons a nonseer would see a spirit on St. Mark's Eve," Neeve said. "Either you're his true love... or you killed him."

It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive. Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them - not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her. His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can't entirely explain. He has it all - family money, good looks, devoted friends - but he's looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she's not so sure anymore.

From Maggie Stiefvater, the best-selling and acclaimed author of the Shiver trilogy and The Scorpio Races, comes a spellbinding new series where the inevitability of death and the nature of love lead us to a place we've never been before.

so great

the story, the narrators. ...simply wonderful! I'm very excited about the other books in the series and hope the same people were used.

Life changing

I don't know what I expected when I bought this on a whim. I don't know what inspired me. But this book has changed me. It is perfect. Whole. Poetic. Insightful. Heartbreaking. Inspiring.

This is great ... keep going.

I loved this book, but I loved it least of the series. It’s an odd thing to say for something you like, but if you’re on the fence, I’d encourage you to continue. This series is one of my favorite reads in ages. Will Patton also has a range of accents (hallelujah! a narrator that doesn’t do Foghorn Leghorn for every Southerner!) and his emphasis makes jokes I didn’t even notice in the hard copy of the book into things I laughed uproariously at when they came through my headphones.

couldn't take my head phones off!!! great story.

What did you love best about The Raven Boys?

this book is fantastic. i loved how all of the characters had a back story but you never fully got all of your questions answered. I like how they all have good and bad qualities but are a family unit with out a blood link.

What other book might you compare The Raven Boys to and why?

i dont have a comparison. i bought this book because i enjoy series stories and there are 4 books in the series.

Which character – as performed by Will Patton – was your favorite?

i liked Ganzi and his smooth charm and unknowing ways. i liked his thoughtfulness.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

i liked the fight between ronan and adam's dad. i liked the build of that moment as well as what it meant to all of the boys and what it would mean to blue.

Any additional comments?

i have already bought the second book and will start it today!

Feels like a slightly bubblegum tinted Stephen King story

We’ll written. Great performance, until the last two minutes where they play some crappy music over the audio to make it hard to hear for no reason.

One of my favorites!

A little teenage angst? Yes. A little magic? Yes! A great story and writing that sucks you in from page one? Absolutely!!
I’ve read these books and I’ve listened to them and I can’t recall another instance where reading is just as enjoyable as listening and vice versa!
Thank you Maggie Stiefvater and thank you Will Patton 💙💚💛💜

stupidly good

There is something about this book that is so ridiculously good. Once I start reading it, I literally have to listen to the whole thing. I love the characters and the way we learn them without it being flat or overwhelming, all without having to be told this is who they are. Everything is just done beautifully.

Interesting

All through this listen I found myself debating how much I liked this and really what it was even about. But with that said, the author hooked me enough to continue with this series.
