building, Building, BULIDING - Can't wait!

This novel intensifies your feeling for the characters. By the end of this book you have so much invested in the story that you want to know the end; but are starting to mourn that there are only two more novels. This is the 2/3 point in the series. Be prepared for heartbreak and surprise – who is who. The strands of the base story complicate in this installment leaving you unsure of what twists and turns lay ahead -- excellent. There are storms brewing on every front, elder and immortals and on the side of good and the side of evil. You’ll have some big questions at the end of this one for sure.

Josh Newman's insecurity is utterly annoying

Josh Newman's insecurity is utterly annoying. I find myself loving the story less and less because of this character.

Just a fun book.

This series may or may not be intended for teenagers or the youth. It is a nice fun series. I am a seriously avid reader, and finish a novel per week. I picked up the first book in the series for my daughter. I ran out of books and picked it up. I have read all of them now. They are fun.
The series has characters that are well wrritten and believable. The goals and problems are very truthful. Michael Scott has to have or had a few teenagers because he has them down pretty well in the books.
Now don't think you are about to read a literary masterpiece but the stories have heart, soul, well planned themes and flow, and realistic well described characters. I love a good book and these are just that. GOOD BOOKS

A waste of time and money

This is the worst in the series. Clearly written just to string out the series and resolve nothing. Don't waste your time. If you are smart you will never start the series as it goes nowhere but in circles. Very disappointing. Hope they never make the movie.

It's just slow

I want to like these books, and they are pretty good, but they are just so darn slow. I guess, since Nicholas Flammel is mentioned in Harry Potter, I thought these books would be almost as good. They are not. I like all the mythical references, and I especially like the Reference to Musashi Myomoto in this book, but just because the author chooses interesting characters, doesn't mean the story is not important. I want to finish the series, but honestly it seems to drag on.

Good, but needlessly frustrating!

I actually enjoy this series(despite the narrator who everyone rags on). It is an enjoyable listen, but it is necessary to note that the plot is a bit predictable at some points and ridiculous at others. It isn't that the twins shouldn't show mistrust of the flamel's, it's just that the level of distrust seems overly dramatized, and needlessly heightened to no foreseeable resolution. Anywho, there I leave you with a brief two cents

Performance

The story was very good but the performance needs work. You can hear the narrator licking his lips and his lips smacking!

Eh, I wish this was as good as the first three

Would you try another book from Michael Scott and/or Paul Boehmer?

This series started off with a bang and has been slowly going downhill. The narration is fine but I'm starting to become annoyed with the plot points. This book expanded the number and complexity of the story lines being followed (and many of the new ones don't add anything). Nothing is resolved in this book and Josh (who was always a little whiny) becomes such an annoying little idiot that I almost don't want to listen to the next book despite how much I want to know how everything ends.

Repetative

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No. So much of this story is just explaining what happened in the first 3 books. I started out really enjoying this series but I don't think I'm going to listen to any more of them after this book. I'm so bored of everything being re-explained. Getting new readers of a series up to speed has been done much better in other YA books.

Has The Necromancer turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

Did Paul Boehmer do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

He does great voices/accents for many of the male characters. Like most male narrators he doesn't do a great job for the female characters.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No
