    "Absolutely charming"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Midnight Folk to be better than the print version?

Yes I would because the written version of this is quite hard-going despite the charm and wonderful language. It is old fashioned and quite wordy with no chapters breaks. When you hear the words spoken aloud you can take delight in the beautiful language and evocative words which you can get bogged down with when attempting to read the book.

What other book might you compare The Midnight Folk to, and why?

This book is a pre-runner to the far more well-known and beloved 'Box of Delights'. I enjoyed this book just as much as Box of Delights and would urge anyone who loved the sequel to invest in 'The Midnight Folk' - you won't be disappointed. It is a gem and shares the same hero - a slightly younger Kay Harker.

What about Richard Mitchley’s performance did you like?

I adored Richard Mitchley's performance, the variety of characters were all brought fully to life from the dreaded Sylvia Daisy Pouncer to the rollicking Bitem. The accents and mannerisms were great fun.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book evokes an old-world charm with governesses, talking portraits, hidden treasure and wicked villains. It is a very engaging and enjoyable adventure with some wonderful characters. I was very sorry when it finished as I enjoyed it so much. Magical.

    Any additional comments?

I cannot recommend this highly enough. I adored it.
