An unthinkable danger. An unexpected choice.
Annabel, once the daughter of a wealthy merchant, is trapped in indentured servitude to Lord Ranulf, a recluse who is rumored to be both terrifying and beastly. Her circumstances are made even worse by the proximity of Lord Ranulf's bailiff - a revolting man who has made unwelcome advances on Annabel in the past.
Believing that life in a nunnery is the best way to escape the escalation of the bailiff's vile behavior and to preserve the faith that sustains her, Annabel is surprised to discover a sense of security and joy in her encounters with Lord Ranulf. As Annabel struggles to confront her feelings, she is involved in a situation that could place Ranulf in grave danger. Ranulf's future, and possibly his heart, may rest in her hands, and Annabel must decide whether to follow the plans she has cherished or the calling God has placed on her heart.

Being able to listen to books has opened up a whole new world for me. I'm a busy mom. Listening to books makes housework much more plesent.
This was a refreshing story to listen to. Beauty and the Beast retold in a real life type setting. There isn't magic, or a talking tea pot, but the charm of this book is found in other way. There is of course the discovery of the beauty that can be found within a person, and a well written discovery of God and faith, without being too preachy. It's so lovely to see these things in a book.
Every time I read a mother Melanie Dickerson book I think that there's no way it could be as good as the last. For me this one started out a little slow but I think it was because I had little time to listen at first but as I got more into the story I loved it. Jude Mason is also an excellent narrator making the story even better. 10/10 :)
I've been wanting to read Melanie Dickerson's books for quite some time, but haven't been able to find them. Thank goodness for Audible!
The familiar story of Beauty and the Beast takes on a thrilling new spin in this book. The plot was well written and the narrator did a great job, especially with the voice changes.
"fastest reader in the west!"
the Narrator couldn't get her words out fast enough! the story was good but reader was awful.
