Publisher's summary

Annabeth is terrified. Just when she’s about to be reunited with Percy - after six months of being apart, thanks to Hera - it looks like Camp Jupiter is preparing for war. As Annabeth and her friends Jason, Piper, and Leo fly in on the Argo II, she can’t blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon figurehead, Leo’s fantastical creation doesn’t appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans that the visitors from Camp Half-Blood are coming in peace.

And that’s only one of her worries. In her pocket, Annabeth carries a gift from her mother that came with an unnerving command: Follow the Mark of Athena. Avenge me. Annabeth already feels weighed down by the prophecy that will send seven demigods on a quest to find - and close - the Doors of Death. What more does Athena want from her?

Annabeth’s biggest fear, though, is that Percy might have changed. What if he’s now attached to Roman ways? Does he still need his old friends? As the daughter of the goddess of war and wisdom, Annabeth knows she was born to be a leader - but never again does she want to be without Seaweed Brain by her side.

Amazing

This book is so great. I finished it in 2 days! And the readers voice is much more soothing than the reader for the last two books. Very upsetting for them to change the reader in the middle of a series, it made the last two books uncomfortable to listen to without the original character voices and tones in his voice.
This book is the best of the 5.

Fun for tweens to adults

I have really enjoyed the heroes of Olympus read by Swanson. I've been listening with my 9 year old daughter. She has all the lightning thief background which I am scant of, so she can predict the plots more easily. This series if Riordan is more appealing to me as an adult than Lightning Thief because the characters are older and more complex. There is also a lot darker mythology, even Medea! Fun, fun.

Riordan a genius, performance great

In book 1 Swanson was stilted. This was much much better. The story has so many twists and seemingly unimportant things come back as a key plot point. I never get tired of it!

Fun Series, Fun Characters

It was good to have all the heroes together, even if things didn't start out all that easily. I thought it would be hard to have Jason & Percy in the same story as leaders, but they're working it out. The cliffhanger was a doozy. Even though the books are geared toward kids, everyone from 4 to 40's are enjoying them at our house. Rick spins a fun tale.

Joshua does a good job of giving everyone their own voice and makes it a thoroughly enjoyable adventure.
