I think this book was just a tad bit juvenile for me. Granted I abandoned it half way through. It is very possible the book gets better towards the end but I just couldn't hang on. This is the only audiobook I have not finished.

    "Piecework"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The book needs a few more pages. It feels like a collection of pieces that are building into a full story. I would bring the Grandfather "experience" into the story earlier. She could have more of the dream fleshed out. The friends were both under and overdone.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Lee Child or Jonathan Kellerman

Would you be willing to try another one of Khristine Hvam’s performances?

    Not likely

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

"Like a child trying to act like an adult."
    Any additional comments?

This book started off great. I couldn't help but think to myself, "what a great idea and story setup this is. There is a great imagination behind this book and it should be fantastic." But I was wrong and instead it turned into a big disappointment. It had SO MUCH potential to be a great story though, so through boredom and trying to get my money's worth out of this book, I went ahead and finished it hoping it would get better. Instead it just kept getting worse. Don't be fooled by the summary which tells of a "house of horrors" and "worst nightmares." Rather, it was full of just plain silly situations and jokes that were out of place and failed to be funny. This tries to be an adult/teen book but it actually felt like a book that only a 12 year old might enjoy. I would love to see someone take the theme or idea of this book and turn it into the great read that it could have been.

    "Pleasantly Surprised"

The story, while fairly easy to foretell, was surprisingly compelling. I went in with the thought that it was going to be a fluff book, especially with the way the characters are presented, but the author developed them well and presented them with interesting challenges. I was actually wishing the book was longer near the end.

If you could sum up The Hunter in three words, what would they be?

    You want more.

What did you like best about this story?

It kept you going, and makes you want to see what happens next.

Which character – as performed by Khristine Hvam – was your favorite?

    Not sure on this one.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book will make you smile and make you think.

    Any additional comments?

I don't like to read something unless it sucks you into it. This book and the ones to follow it do just that. It is a good story, and something different from all the vampire stuff. Very good book, I am on the thrid one now and hope another comes out soon.

    "Nailbiting"

This is the first book in a trilogy by L. J. Smith, author of the vampire diaries. This is a departure from the vampire world that made its author famous. A group of friends are trapped in a haunted house where they must face their worst nightmares. To win is to escape, to lose is to die, and in a world full of darkness and uncertainty, they have only one another to rely on. The chilling atmosphere kicks in right from the start and the fear factor only increases as the book continues. With vivid descriptions and a nail biting pace, this book is an absolute must for all L. J. Smith fans and a great book to introduce new readers to her work.
