After saving Olympus from the evil Titan lord, Kronos, Percy and friends have rebuilt their beloved Camp Half-Blood, where the next generation of demigods must now prepare for a chilling prophecy of their own:
Seven half-bloods shall answer the call,
To storm or fire the world must fall.
An oath to keep with a final breath,
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death.
Now, in a brand-new series from blockbuster best-selling author Rick Riordan, fans return to the world of Camp Half-Blood. Here, a new group of heroes will inherit a quest. But to survive the journey, they'll need the help of some familiar demigods.

I really enjoyed this book. I haven't read the other Percy Jackson books. This makes me want to go read the rest of the books by Rick Riordan. The narrator took some getting used to, but after a few minutes I had no problems with him.
I am a self-proclaimed nerd and I love books. Tall books, short books, skinny books and fat books....as long as it's a captivating story with interesting characters I'm in. And whenever I hear the Audible guy go "This is Audible" I get excited for my next adventure! See? Total nerd. :)
I haven't even finished listening to this one yet, but I know I will be disappointed when it's over. I've listened to the entire Percy Jackson series and was prepared to be disappointed with the new "heroes", but I was wrong! The story is wonderful and I found that I was totally intrigued by these new characters. Can't wait for more!
This was a great way to introduce new characters to an already successful series. The new spin - hinted at throughout the book - and revealed at the end is an interesting angle and should produce more great reads.
I almost didn't download this one from the reviews that were posted. But all of Riordan's other books have been great, I just had to find out for myself. And I am glad I did! Tremendous story great characters and the narrator's alright. If you pass on this one because of the narration you're missing out. If you pass because of what others have written, well then you probably don't need to read about heroes.
I loved the book. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. Made a long distance road trip seem like minutes. Unfortunately, the narrating needed alot of work. I look forward to the next book in the series but hope there will be a different narrator. Perhaps the same person that read Percy Jackson's adventures.
With an audiobook, a bad narrator can certainly ruin a good book. While I don't think this book is as well written as those in the Percy Jackson series, it is much better than the narrator makes it.
Ultimately, the narrator seriously hurts this book. At times, his "computer-like voice" is immensely irritating. At other times, all of his characters have the same voice (which makes telling the characters apart very difficult). On a personal note, I'd just like to tell our narrator Joshua Swanson that he is a horrible reader and he should not butcher future books.
I would like to point out that this is NOT Audible's fault. They didn't choose the narrator. I don't know who at the Listening Library (the company which produced this book) is responsible for choosing this narrator, but that person failed miserably. If you want to prevent this narrator from destroying future books, make sure to visit the Listening Library's website and register your complaints.
I really enjoyed the Book but the narrator was a not great. Most of the time the story covered up his voice but sometime it was bad. It is a really great book anyway and you can't wait till the next one.
I'll be the first to admit, it is hard to get used to a new reader. I have enjoyed the previous Readers work so much getting used the new "voices" is difficult. But that shouldn't prevent you from enjoying the new story. I suspect there may have been a new editor or something involved, there were a couple wording choices in the first part that weren't consistent with the previous books. However if your new to the series this is a great place to start, it does a wonderful job of re-introducing the setting in whole new light.
Totally agree with the other readers. Don't know why some didn't like Jesse, but my kids loved him. He brought the characters to life. But this reader's monotone just drove us crazy. He gave Annebeth a totally different unpleasant personality. Change the reader back to Jesse!
I'm a Cardiac Anesthesiologist with two college aged children. I used 2 check my kid's books for appropriateness & now enjoy those books 2.
I am a Cardiac Anesthesiologist. I enjoy science fiction and I love stories like Riordan's. He is a a genuis. I love how he can mix history, and ancient god religions into a present day story. yes I do love these books. He is fantastic. I have had my young teens read them also.
