Very worthwhile

Short and simple enough for kids to enjoy - clever and original enough for mature readers to gain something new from this tale. Interesting concept that moved at a fast clip and was just dark enough to keep an edgy interest, just innocent enough to not weigh too heavily on the mind or evoke a too critical of an engagement with the plot. The best part was Neil Gaiman's narration. Very cool.

Wonderful

This is listed as a children’s book, though I can’t fully understand why. Some of the vocabulary will go over the heads of most kids I know. That said, I am not a kid, (40+), but have been binging Gaiman’s work since I stumbled on Neverwhere. The best description of his work I’ve seen is that he write fairy tales for adults. This one fits that bill quite nicely. The majority of his work is light and fun with enough seriousness to make the situations perfectly tense. I listen while I work and his narration is hypnotic to the point that I don’t want to stop until it’s over. Just great stuff. This story is for everyone. Don’t let the kid section keep you grown folks away. It’s simply delightful.

Wonderful

Not just a children’s story. I’m way beyond that age (I may or may not qualify for the senior discount) and I loved this story. Highly recommend it.
