Princess Anidori-Kiladra of Kildenree was born with a word on her tongue, and a secret magic. Though she is raised in luxury, she is never quite comfortable with who she is, or what she is to become. Then she is sent on a journey to marry an unknown prince. The trip is difficult, and before it is finished all her expectations are overturned. Alone, friendless, stripped of her crown and her title, Ani must learn to make her own path in the world. Along the way, she just might learn to be a princess.

Bold in concept, stunning in execution, The Goose Girl is one of the most spectacular debut novels of recent years. Now more than four dozen actors bring it to thrilling new life in this unabridged audio edition—a recording that will delight those who already love the book, and enthrall those who have not yet discovered it.

I quite enjoyed the story, but full-cast audio isn't my thing apparently, and it distracted me somewhat. They did a fine job; I just didn't like it much, so 3 stars (OK) for the audio, four (really liked it) for the story, and a solid 4 overall because the tellers probably won't bother most.

Fun story, full-cast audio

It's good for kids 8 to 13. it's a very fun book that really gets the story of a princess but doesn't make it to girly. it's about a princess that just doesn't like to being a princess. boys and girls mostly girls though

it's great .

The story was wonderfully done by the cast. Heart pounding adventure that was good from start to finish. I truly enjoyed this read.

As a 58 year-old woman, I'm not a big fan of most the books targeted for the YA audience. I am exhausted by naive young love as a theme. This book is an exception. The main story line is less about falling in love and happily ever after and more about the protagonist's identity development and growth as a social advocate. I enjoyed the full-cast reading, although I didn't notice much distinction among the male villain voices. I wasn't familiar with the Goose Girl mythology, so I greatly appreciated the author's narrated commentary.
