Publisher's summary

In this breathtaking new story from the astonishing imagination of James Patterson, a girl has to save herself from an army assembled just to capture her—and maybe save the planet while she's at it.

Maximum Ride is a perfectly normal teenager who just happens to be able to fly, the result of an out-of-control government experiment. Max and the other members of the Flock—six kids who share her remarkable ability—have been asked to aid a group of environmental scientists studying the causes of global warming. The expedition seems like a perfect combination of adventure, activism—and escaping government forces who watch the Flock like a hawk.

But even in Antarctica, trapped in the harshest weather on our planet, Maximum Ride is an irresistible target in constant danger. For whoever controls her powers could also control the world . . . Maximum Ride is James Patterson's greatest character, a heroine who manages to be human and fearless at once. THE FINAL WARNING is an unrelenting new adventure from the writer Time magazine has called "The Man Who Can't Miss."

Sadly not even good fiction

The previous books were very good and entertaining. I and my kids loved them. My kids will not hear this book. It's full of questionable science and questionable facts used to support an anti-global warming agenda complete with political direction straight from Al Gore. It MIGHT be tolerable kids fiction if it were balanced; but, it isn't. A sad addition to a good series.

Disapointing.

Unlike the previous Maximum Ride books, this one has an agenda to preach to your children a religion of global warming. It implies like the future books will have the same focus. Lack of scientific principles throughtout the book with the characters guessing their way to the assumed cause of all thier problems. Not the action packed Max books we'd expected.

political statement

We realy enjoyed the first few books of this story (Maximum Ride) but, This and the previous book are nothing but venting by the author about global warming. Not saying that global warming doesn't exist, but this is not entertainment.

Mutant kids run amuck

Patterson has a knack for writing thrillers and as a fan of his work, I wanted to love this. However, compared to recent listens like Robert Stanek's wonderful Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches, The Final Warning wasn't as good.

Needed to do his homework

Would you try another book from James Patterson and/or Jill Apple?

I will read another one of his books.

Has The Final Warning turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not from this genre but maybe this series.

Was The Final Warning worth the listening time?

This book had a major political agenda. Completely turned me off.

Any additional comments?

I have read lots of Patterson books, this is the first one I did not like. He needs to do his homework, a little better, on global warming. If you want to read a book with a left-wing political agenda this might be the book for you otherwise it is not worth the time.

Just a platform for political views

I've really loved this series so far and couldn't wait to read this book, but then it went off on this stupid global warming soap box crap. Everyone has their own views on things. He should have just stuck to the story and left all that other crap out. I'm not even sure if I want to read any more of the stories now in case they're more liberalistic garbage. Very disappointed.

Good continuation of Series

Would you listen to The Final Warning again? Why?

Maybe

What other book might you compare The Final Warning to and why?

The rest of the Maximum Ride books

What about Jill Apple’s performance did you like?

All of it. She brought ALL of the characters to life but she was really Max to the limit!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Max is dealing with her feelings for Fang and her jealousy. She tells Fang that "there is no me and you." And Fang responds, "There will ALWAYS be a me and you!"

Cute

Another episode in Max's life...another adventure. Cute, easy to follow. And informative about environmental issues.

Left stuff out

I’m someone who reads along with audio books and I can not do it with this one because the narrator leaves out big chunks of text! Why not read the whole story??
