Once there was a world's end.

The forests burned, the lakes and rivers dried up, and the oceans swelled.

Then came a plague, and fever spread across the globe. Families died, violence reigned, and man killed man.

Next came WICKED, who were looking for an answer. And then they found the perfect boy.

The boy's name was Thomas, and Thomas built a maze.

Now there are secrets.

There are lies.

And there are loyalties history could never have foreseen.

This is the story of that boy, Thomas, and how he built a maze that only he could tear down.

All will be revealed.

A prequel to the worldwide Maze Runner phenomenon, The Fever Code is the book that holds all the answers. How did WICKED find the Gladers? Who are Group B? And what side are Thomas and Teresa really on? Lies will be exposed. Secrets will be uncovered. Loyalties will be proven. Fans will never see the truth coming. Before there was the Maze, there was The Fever Code.

Excellent insight into the Maze Runner series

Having seen both the Maze Runner and Scorch Trials movies, I wanted to delve deeper into the story. To anyone wanting to read the Maze Runner series, I suggest you start with this prequel. It offers interesting insights into the runners and also into the world and people that "created" them.

I enjoyed this book very much. Although the story did drag a bit from time to time, I found it a very easy listen aided by the pleasant narration of Mark Deakins.

A solid sequel/prequel

I have now read the entire maze runner collection and would say that The Fever Code is a great summation. If judged by itself it would be uninteresting but as it was meant to be read last I think it is a perfect cherry on top with easter eggs and homages galore for the dire hard fan.

Good Read

This book MUST be read last in the series. Makes everything come together. Might read book one again now!

Solid wrap up to the story

Good finish that tied up the most important loose ends surrounding WICKD, Thomas & Teresa.

Another great book in the maze runner series

I loved learning more about how the mazes developed and how the kids that were put in the maze came to be with Wicked in the first place. I also liked learning more about the main character, Thomas.

So many ups and downs and the ending got me like 😱 Mark Deakins does a great job with all the Maze books. I will listen to them all over again.

What a great end!!!

I think this allowed us to see into the world before the maze, scorch trials, death cure! It was wonderfully and elaborately told just as the others books were and I'm only sad this is the final book! This is a must read for anyone who has enjoyed the others in this series!!! Happy listening!

About what I expected.

***SPOILERS***
Not as much action as the other books. But it was definitely what I wanted. I got to see Thomas' life before he went into the Maze. Got to see a bit of Newt, Minho, and the rest of them. So sad that Newt was separated from his sister and then with the memory wipe, didn't even remember her. Maybe that's why he always seemed so sad to me; subconsciously he felt the loss. And the revelation of Theresa being DeeDee from the other prequel. Wow! I did not see that coming! It makes it easier to understand why she betrayed them, but I still don't like her. She was definitely brainwashed to think like the Doctor.

WOW. So a few points :

1.) Dashner CAN NOT write children so the first few chapters are a pain to get through.
2.) This book is the slowest paced of the series but it's worth it
3.) Definitely read this book last - I know some people like to listen to prequels first but please save this for last. Even after the other prequel, it will be worth it for the fun little "Ohh!" moments
