Publisher's summary

In Allison Sekemoto's world, there is one rule left: Blood calls to blood.

She has done the unthinkable: died so that he might continue to live. Cast out of Eden and separated from the boy she dared to love, Allie will follow the call of blood to save her creator, Kanin, from the psychotic vampire Sarren. But when the trail leads to Allie's birthplace in New Covington, what Allie finds there will change the world forever - and possibly end human and vampire existence.

There's a new plague on the rise, a strain of the Red Lung virus that wiped out most of humanity generations ago - and this strain is deadly to humans and vampires alike. The only hope for a cure lies in the secrets Kanin carries, if Allie can get to him in time.

Allison thought that immortality was forever. But now, with eternity itself hanging in the balance, the lines between human and monster will blur even further, and Allie must face another choice she could never have imagined having to make.

You should have let Zeke live!

Why did you let Zeke die? You should have made him a Vampire! Or let him live and have him and Allie have a happy ending together! Well, at least Allie has something to remember Zeke! I hope that she doesn't lose it in the next book!

Great story and narrator!

Therese is AMAZING! She's easily 1 of the best narrators I have encountered so far here. The series just keeps getting better and better and Julie Kagawa might just be 1 of my new favorite authors. I love how she adds little things and makes great characters even greater. the character of Jackal is great and Sarren is a freaking psycho!

Get ready for one hell of a ride!

Would you listen to The Eternity Cure again? Why?

Most definitely! The brutal & harsh dystopian universe Julie Kagawa has created is quite fascinating with a protagonist who is strong, layered & someone you can easily root for. I loved the first book/audiobook of this new series & this one topped it tenfold! There was so much action & suspense in this book, but it didn't overshadow the important character development that takes place with the characters, nor did the character development overshadow the action & suspense. It was a beautiful balance that only great storytellers can truly pull off. It did start off a tad bit slow in the beginning, but trust me, it picks up about 1/3 into the book & doesn't stop until the very end! I lost a lot of sleep over the past two days, b/c I could not stop listening. I was cleaning my house way past 2am, just so I had an excuse to keep listening. By the way, expect one heck of a cliffhanger! I was practically screaming at the very end & woke my poor husband & dog up. lol

What other book might you compare The Eternity Cure to and why?

While the market is currently heavily saturated with vampire & zombie books, this book/series is unique in its own right, so I find it quite difficult to compare it with other books. The protagonist, Allison, sort of reminds me of Sita from 'The Last Vampire'/'Thirst' series, by Christopher Pike...that is, before he decided to re-launch the series, thus messing up a good thing. Both Allison & Sita are vampires, trying so hard to cling to their lost humanity. Their desire to connect with humans is very strong, but a constant uphill battle & their characters are neither good, nor bad...neither black or white, but multiple shades of gray, which is much more realistic for a vampire, who's main source of nutrition is humans' blood.

Have you listened to any of Therese Plummer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, I have only listened to her with this series. I thought she was great & truly nailed the voice of Allie. The only negative would be her voice for Sarren, which was way too hammy & whispery. Other than that though, I loved her & really hope she will stick with this series.

Any additional comments?

I also really enjoyed the the slow-building relationship between blood-siblings, Allie & Jackal. Actually, I really enjoyed Jackal's character development throughout the whole book. The only slight negative I have about the story would be Allie's extended monologuing about fighting her inner monster. But like I said, it's only a very slight negative & it doesn't make the story any less awesome. And last but not least, ZEEEEEEKE!!! Allie's relationship with Zeke is both fascinating & heartbreakingly tragic. I am DYING for the next book!!!
