Publisher's summary

The selection began with 35 girls. Now, with the group narrowed down to the Elite, the competition to win Prince Maxon's love is fiercer than ever. The closer America gets to the crown, the more she struggles to figure out where her heart truly lies. Each moment she spends with Maxon is like a fairy tale, filled with breathless, glittering romance. But whenever she sees her first love, Aspen, standing guard, she's swept up in longing for the life they'd planned to share.

America is desperate for more time. But while she's torn between her two futures, the rest of the Elite know exactly what they want - and America's chance to choose is about to slip away.

I want more!

Would you listen to The Elite again? Why?

yes, the first time just did not seem to last that long! Plus the weight I will have for the next book I will need to refresh my memory.

What did you like best about this story?

You got to learn a lot more about Maxon and why he does what he does.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

SPOILER******* when she tried to stop Mar from being caned and when the Queen told her that she was proud that she did try. Finally giving the B**** hers when she called her friend a whore! OH MY THE KING! I have never had so much hatred rear it ugly head all at once before as I did for this person.

Any additional comments?

While the book was overall good. I did find myself wanting to slap America.....just some of the things she did and the way she acted in this toward Maxon. Some was called for others not so much. I was not that much in love with her in this book as I was in the first one.....but honestly the way she acts/thinks is thoughts most young girls have so I cant fault her for it. We learn a lot more about Maxon, and things he goes threw that no one knows. We get to see the jealous side of Aspen, which I am not to sure how to feel about him at the moment. I just know I cant wait for the next book!

I love this book so much!!

I am a simple guy. I see romance books and then I read. I absolutely adore this book. I enjoyed it just as much as the first one. I do admit however that America’s decisions can be frustrating at times but hey she is just a 17 and in love girl. When people are in love they make dumb decisions and you also have to consider how much pressure she’s under. I honestly dislike Aspen and much prefer Maxon but I do think the love triangle is entertaining. I think the book is wonderful and I can’t wait to read the third one!!!

A fun escape

This series is a fun and yet insightful read. While it might not find itself taught in school, it supports canonical stories such as 1984, Animal Farm, and Fahrenheit 451. I recommend the series for most readers, especially high school students.

This fan girl enjoyed it...love triangles and all!

Just wow! Again, I can't believe how much I enjoyed this book. Like the Selection there were so many bad reviews that I almost didn't get this book. So glad I didn't listen to the haters. This book was amazing. There were so many twists and turns and I enjoyed learning more about the world that Kiera Cass has created.

I can sympathize with those who hated the love triangle. It's frustrating, but isn't that what a love triangle is suppose to do? Otherwise who cares about it?? This is suppose to be about a young girl who is confused and has a huge decision to make under a stressful situation. I really felt sympathy for her character. And I can totally understand how confused she must be over Maxon and Aspen.

I don't get the negative reviews, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you enjoyed the Selection then I'm sure you will enjoy this one too. Just don't expect everything to be wrapped up and given to you with a bow on top. This is a trilogy and there is still more to come. This 2nd installment definitely left me wanting more and anticipating the final installment.

I enjoyed the narrator and the cover art is simply breathtaking.

Can't wait for the next book.
