Publisher's summary

Don't miss book three in the #1 New York Times best-selling Maze Runner series, soon to be a major motion picture starring Dylan O'Brien!

WICKED has taken everything from Thomas: his life, his memories, and now his only friends — the Gladers. But it's finally over. The trials are complete, after one final test.

What WICKED doesn't know is that Thomas remembers far more than they think. And it's enough to prove that he can't believe a word of what they say.

Thomas beat the Maze. He survived the Scorch. He'll risk anything to save his friends. But the truth might be what ends it all.

The time for lies is over.

The first two books, The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials, are also #1 worldwide blockbuster movies featuring the star of MTV's Teen Wolf, Dylan O'Brien; Kaya Scodelario; Aml Ameen; Will Poulter; and Thomas Brodie-Sangster!

Also look for The Fever Code, the much-buzzed-about series conclusion that finally reveals the story of how the maze was built, and James Dashner's other best-selling series, the Mortality Doctrine: The Eye of Minds, The Rule of Thoughts, and The Game of Lives.

Praise for James Dashner and the Maze Runner series:

Same ole thing: 100s of close calls

I like this series but a bit annoyed at how repetitive the action is. Thomas or his friends get in a bind and are saved by the skin of their teeth over and over and over and over....

How could such an action packed book be so boring?

SPOILERS AHEAD

A good book is supposed to balance fast paced action scenes with low energy scenes to keep your interest and allow it to flow. This book does none of that. The characters are constantly bombarded with one ridiculous event after another, there is absolutely no time for the reader to understand the situation before the main characters are thrown into another chaotic scenerio. Because the book never calms down, you stop caring about what happens to the characters.

Its feels like James Dashner made the plot by using a random generator because nothing makes sense. Wicked’s motives become even more confusing. The gladers begin to act extremely out of character. The focus is put on characters that you barely care about like Gally and Brenda while good fleshed out characters like Newt are killed off. Other characters completely fade into the background and just feel like extras, most of them are not named, like come on.

Everytime you feel like you’re finally getting answers to the series lingering questions Dashner reveals something that causes an even bigger plot hole. For example, Wicked controls Thomas’ body to attempt to stop the chip from being removed from his head which begs the question why did they allow him to escape if they could always control him like that?

The ending makes the whole series feel like a waste of time. Wicked created this elaborate maze experiement and then underwent the scorch trials just to decide that they only needed Thomas’ brain for the cure. When the operation doesn’t go through they decide to go with plan B which consists of letting the immune people live in peace so they can repopulate humanity. This makes the last 2 books completely pointless.

There is just too much wrong with this book and such a disappointing end to such a unique series. The story feels poorly structured and rushed. How did the editors let this be published?

Interesting but predictable

A tween story mixed with walking dead.
I would like to compare it to a teenage LOST but the plot twist are more predictable.

highly recommend

I really enjoyed this book. definitely worth struggling through the second to get here!
The action starts right away and my favorite characters from book 1 are more prominent than in book2.

good

I loved this book. The most memorable moment of the book was when Newt was killed. I actually felt chills when it happened.

Fabulous

What can I say? The narrator was amazing; the story was fairly interesting. But the ending.. Well, that was very human.. Probably the best praise I could give a book. I would have liked to have given it a 4.7.
