Publisher's summary

Don't miss book three in the #1 New York Times best-selling Maze Runner series, soon to be a major motion picture starring Dylan O'Brien!

WICKED has taken everything from Thomas: his life, his memories, and now his only friends — the Gladers. But it's finally over. The trials are complete, after one final test.

What WICKED doesn't know is that Thomas remembers far more than they think. And it's enough to prove that he can't believe a word of what they say.

Thomas beat the Maze. He survived the Scorch. He'll risk anything to save his friends. But the truth might be what ends it all.

The time for lies is over.

The first two books, The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials, are also #1 worldwide blockbuster movies featuring the star of MTV's Teen Wolf, Dylan O'Brien; Kaya Scodelario; Aml Ameen; Will Poulter; and Thomas Brodie-Sangster!

Also look for The Fever Code, the much-buzzed-about series conclusion that finally reveals the story of how the maze was built, and James Dashner's other best-selling series, the Mortality Doctrine: The Eye of Minds, The Rule of Thoughts, and The Game of Lives.

Praise for James Dashner and the Maze Runner series:

a decent ending

Would you listen to The Death Cure again? Why?

I probably wouldn't, although I did enjoy the book. I thought it did a good job of ending the trilogy, but it wasn't captivating enough to want to read a second time

Would you recommend The Death Cure to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, but only if you read the first two "Maze Runner" books. Otherwise this just doesn't make any sense.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I think this is a silly question. It was a very interesting book, and you wanted to know how it ended.

Any additional comments?

This was a bit predictable, unlike the first book, "Maze Runner."

Surprise Twists and Turns

Book 3 of the Maze Runner. Loved it. Many questions answered. Wrapped up respectfully. You will have closure on what happens to your beloved characters. I'm happy I finally ignored certain reviews (only a few bad ones) and took a leap of faith.

Very good ending to the series.

Meh

Just okay. I kind of wish Dashner would've just wrapped things up in the first book. No need for a trilogy. He traded quality writing for profit and it shows,

Way to **** up a great series

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Only if you have been invested in the series, mainly the characters, already. If only to get closure. It's like Dashner wrote this in a 72hr coke binge. The story was all over the place, with a lot of lazy predictable tangents as awkward attempts at plots twists. He writes every chapter like stomping on the gas pedal, they mainly build up into wildly over hyped, over blown crescendos that eventually get extremely monotonous and predictable. Also the "Rat Man" goes from a mysterious deceptive character to a comic book style villan, suddenly having an annoyingly transparent evil agenda the entire book. The ending was just lazy. Go play the last level of Halo on original xbox and pretend the characters are with you. Over bloated action scenes that are so repetitive in imagery it's almost painful to trudge through. Hire the hell is it ok that this has a fairytale ending, he should have at least brutally destroyed the characters since he already destroyed such a great story idea.

What could James Dashner have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Ugh make up his mind on what he wanted before he wrote the book.

Which scene was your favorite?

Honestly, I don't have a favorite, I guess if anything I really liked Newt's character arch.

Did The Death Cure inspire you to do anything?

No, I'm just extremely frustrated that Dashner wrecked a really good story with this garbage.

Wish there was more!

What did you love best about The Death Cure?

I love the story of this one. I love that everyone is going through their own thing and it's not just Thomas. It's interesting to see how everyone is changing.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The ending for me was kind of a let down. They've built so much up only to have a mediocre ending was a little disappointing. I don't know if I was just expecting more, because the endings of both the other books kept me beyond satisfied.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I can't really say, because I wouldn't want to ruin any part of the book for anyone who's looking to read it. I'll just say its a very sad moment between Newt and Thomas. If you read this book, you'll know it when you get there :)

The series finale was appropriate

I don't know why people have been so upset with this book. For me, the final installment was just fine. Granted, I wouldn't list it as a masterpiece but it was enjoyable. What's more, the finale was appropriate.

NO SPOILERS: Dashner's conclusion was mature and defensible. The final narration is done with strong character voice and character insight. Everything is summarized from beginning to end in a brief State of the Union address. The monologue clarified some details, validated others, but did not strip away the reader's right of imagination.

This series is meant for a Young Adult audience. While not denigrating the capabilities of the target audience, we must evaluate this story through the lens of transformative adolesence. The entire series forces readers to grapple with moral and ethical dillemas. Its characters and plot points encourage us to consider situations we may have never faced, thereby affording us a degree of education without consequence. Coupled with entertainment what more could you want?

WICKED IS GOOD

Would you listen to The Death Cure again? Why?

I would totally listen to the entire series again someday! Maybe not that soon but perhaps at the end of the year when I've forgotten about minor details.

What did you like best about this story?

I love how everyone treated each other like family, it's fascinating how they would do anything for each other and I am proud to have been a part of their story.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Mark Deakins?

No probably not, he's not a very good narrator but since this story was so incredible I didn't really mind. Besides, you did get used to hearing his voice after a little while and then it felt familiar and calming.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"Wicked is good"

Any additional comments?

It's funny how I didn't realize this until the last sentence in the book but Wicked truly is good. Like Ratman they're only acting crazy because of the flare but their intentions aren't bad even though their means are...
