Publisher's summary

In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street - and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends.

The special Collector’s First Edition will include a never-before-seen letter from Will to his family!

With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move - and that one of their own has betrayed them.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, though her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will - the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?

As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

Just go on and buy it already!

I love Cassandra Clare anyway, so this was an easy option to check, especially if you want to recap before the release of Clockwork Princess and are short on time to sit and read. Victorian awesomeness, a great Shadowhunter mystery with a well thought out love story featuring the ever popular love triangle but with a hopeless twist that will delight those that thrive on fictional tragedy. If you liked Clockwork Angel, this definitely does not disappoint. I think I may even like it more than the first in the series.
With regard to the narration, Ed Westwick would win out anyway by virtue of the deep voice and the accent, even if at the start he tends to read it a bit melodramatically. This quickly resolves and I find myself waiting for his chapters- the reason largely being that although Heather Lind does a really great job reading many of the characters, she misses the mark with several key ones. Charlotte Bramwell, for example, in her twenties, is read like an ancient and stuffy English woman; both Lightwood boys are read like aristocratic caricatures. So while you find yourself enjoying the performance, it's occasionally interrupted by something akin to Disney acting- not bad, just really out of place.
I still really recommend this title. I can't wait for the last one to come out.

Story Good, Narration OK

What did you love best about The Clockwork Prince?

I really enjoyed the story. I liked the various twists and turns that the plot took, even if some were predictable.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The performance was just okay. Both narrators lacked life in their voices. I found while listening I would pretend that there was more animation to the narration to keep myself listening.

Any additional comments?

Worth the listen, although I think reading the book was more enjoyable to me.

Great - except for the singing!

What made the experience of listening to The Clockwork Prince the most enjoyable?

Overall, the audio version of the Clockwork Prince is excellent. Narrators are quite suited to the story.

Any additional comments?

The singing was almost unbearable. I'm glad the singing periods were rare, because they could have destroyed a fine audio book.

Terrible Narrator

I didnt like Ed westwick as a narrator. I love the story abd the series but they should have stck with the narrator from the last book. Its like putting diffrent actors in a sequel.

Mystery and a Good Story

If you could sum up The Clockwork Prince in three words, what would they be?

Rolicking good mystery story with enough action balanced with story to keep the story fresh and interesting

Would you listen to another book narrated by Ed Westwick and Heather Lind ?

I thought Heather Lind - unfortunately - I dreaded every time she began to narrate. I don't like to

Good Story bad narration

If you could sum up The Clockwork Prince in three words, what would they be?

Pretty darn interesting

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Clockwork Prince?

Learning about Will's past

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I HATE Heather Lind in this. She is awful. It sound like Siri was reading me the book. It was completely tone deaf and automated.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I defiantly had to take breaks
