Publisher's summary

In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street - and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends.

The special Collector’s First Edition will include a never-before-seen letter from Will to his family!

With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move - and that one of their own has betrayed them.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, though her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will - the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?

As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

Im so glad I hung in through the first 15 min.

It was slow going and the woman reading half the book really didn't hit her stride until Will and Jem showed up. I enjoyed reading about characters we heard mentioned in the amazing City of Bones and learning about how it was to be in this strange world when customs are so different from now. I'll be starting the third book tomorrow and wish she had written 6 books with this one also.

Good book, bad voice.

What made the experience of listening to The Clockwork Prince the most enjoyable?

I listened to the first book and loved the story.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters are very complex and interesting.

Did Ed Westwick and Heather Lind do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

No I thought he would read the men and she the woman, but it was like he did a chapter and she did a chapter. And they don't do voice well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Jem and Tessa are very sweet, remember they are teenagers with a first love. And one is dying. Very deep.

Any additional comments?

Yes, narrators just read, don't do voices

LOVE ED WESTWICK

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would totally recommend this book to a friend! It's an awesome book that has twists and turns, romance and action, serious moments and funny ones too.

Which character – as performed by Ed Westwick and Heather Lind – was your favorite?

I loved Ed Westwick's Magnus Bane.

Any additional comments?

I loved Ed Westwick's voice in this audiobook. When it switches to Heather Lind (and she did to an Awesome job too) it would throw me off. Honestly while I did love Heather's reading part of me wishes Ed would have read the whole book through.

Just go on and buy it already!

I love Cassandra Clare anyway, so this was an easy option to check, especially if you want to recap before the release of Clockwork Princess and are short on time to sit and read. Victorian awesomeness, a great Shadowhunter mystery with a well thought out love story featuring the ever popular love triangle but with a hopeless twist that will delight those that thrive on fictional tragedy. If you liked Clockwork Angel, this definitely does not disappoint. I think I may even like it more than the first in the series.
With regard to the narration, Ed Westwick would win out anyway by virtue of the deep voice and the accent, even if at the start he tends to read it a bit melodramatically. This quickly resolves and I find myself waiting for his chapters- the reason largely being that although Heather Lind does a really great job reading many of the characters, she misses the mark with several key ones. Charlotte Bramwell, for example, in her twenties, is read like an ancient and stuffy English woman; both Lightwood boys are read like aristocratic caricatures. So while you find yourself enjoying the performance, it's occasionally interrupted by something akin to Disney acting- not bad, just really out of place.
I still really recommend this title. I can't wait for the last one to come out.
