Publisher's summary

In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street - and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends.

The special Collector’s First Edition will include a never-before-seen letter from Will to his family!

With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move - and that one of their own has betrayed them.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, though her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will - the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?

As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

Ed Westwick Sounds Great!

Ed Westwick has a voice made for telling stories. It is a shame he doesn't narrate the entire book. The book is suspenseful, emotional, and action packed. Though the main character is like most main characters, fickle and driven by nonsense motives, the supporting characters are very interesting. Overall a great storytelling by a fantastic sounding narrator.

Wonderful book.

Female narrator is horrible

I enjoy this series and the story and the male narrator is fine. However the female narrator leaves a lot to be desired.

Her voice for Tessa is fine. And the whiny timber she chose for Jessimine fits the character. But she chose to make Charlotte, who is 23, sound like a fretful old woman. The high squeaky tone she uses for Sophie makes her sound like a little child, when I believe she’s 20. They just get worse the longer the book goes on. I’m fighting to get through it because I really want to finish the series but it’s a struggle.

loved it

I literally listened to this whole book off and on for five days straight, at work, on my drive to and from work, and at home while piddling around. Heather Lind and Ed Westwick did a phenomenal job!

Great Listen

The voice of Ed Westwick was such a perfect fit for Will! Loved the raspy sound, it added a lot to the reading! Heather Lind read most of the book and was an easy listen as well! Definitely recommend

1800s Soap Opera of Shadow Hunts

An enjoyable tale of fantasy realm of Shadow Hunters and the 1800s life, with Tessa in love with 2 young men at once, while still being hunted by the Magester...it's a good soap opera like tale. enjoyable light reading.

Elegant and Imaginative

What did you love best about The Clockwork Prince?

What I love about this book is that it reaches down in the depths of your soul and pulls on your heart strings. There is a timeless love triangle that makes you question yourself (the reader) and every character that is part of the triangle. Your heart breaks for 3 people who may or may not ever fully get their heart's deepest desires.

The writing in this book is so well done. Every single description and conversation is elegant.

Of course, I'm hooked and already listening to the next book in the series!

The Clockework Prince is Amazing!

I loved how the narration switched between male and female depending on which character the chapter was about. Book one was painful to get through-clockwork prince more than made up for previous narration errors.
