Publisher's summary

The Passage meets Ender's Game in an epic new series from award-winning author Rick Yancey.

After the first wave, only darkness remains. After the second, only the lucky escape. And after the third, only the unlucky survive. After the fourth wave, only one rule applies: Trust no one.

Now, it's the dawn of the fifth wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth's last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker.

Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie's only hope for rescuing her brother - or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

"Gripping!" (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

"Nothing short of amazing!" (Kirkus Reviews, starred review)

"Yancey's heartfelt, violent, paranoid epic, filled with big heroics and bigger surprises, is part War of the Worlds, part Starship Troopers, part Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and part The Stand ... a sure thing for reviewers and readers alike." (Booklist, starred review)

Sometimes a Little High on Teen Angst

Overall very good, but feelings get rehashed A LOT. Pace sometimes a little slow, but a very good story.

LOVE!

What did you love best about The 5th Wave?

the first few chapters took a little getting into, seems like a lot of whining till the story gets moving. but once it does it's golden.

Loved it

A fresh take on the post apocalyptic story line. The pace as the story unfolds from the inside out is very nearly perfect. I was so completely oblivious to the passage of real time that I was shocked when the book ended.

Two if by Three

Story was great.
Male narration left the experience somewhat stilted as both leads sounded too similar to denote by any difference of intonation

The narrators are really good

There are two narrators but they were narrating for multiple people. I never got confused which character was speaking because everything was just spoken perfectly. I love this audiobook!

Of course, this was not possible if yancy did a great job writing this book series.

Reviewed for our Teen

Reviewing this book for our Dyslexic 18 year old son. Captured my attention all the way through to the end. Great presentation. This 60 year old man will be reviewing more books by this Author.
Thank goodness for kids and grandkids. I also have to go to the movies and watch those great animation flicks. LOL

Too juvenile for me.

I did not realise that this book was written for a younger age group. Teenagers will probably love it, however it was just too juvenile for my liking.
