Publisher's summary

So...you'd think after banishing an immortal being and a fallen High Priestess, saving Stark's life, biting Heath, getting a headache from Erik, and almost dying, Zoey Redbird would catch a break. Sadly, a break is not in the House of Night school forecast for the High Priestess in training and her gang. Juggling three guys is anything but a stress reliever, especially when one of them is a sexy Warrior who is so into protecting Zoey that he can sense her emotions.

Speaking of stress, the dark force lurking in the tunnels under the Tulsa Depot is spreading, and Zoey is beginning to believe Stevie Rae could be responsible for a lot more than a group of misfit red fledglings. Aphrodite's visions warn Zoey to stay away from Kalona and his dark allure, but they also show that it is Zoey who has the power to stop the evil immortal.

Soon it becomes obvious that Zoey has no choice: if she doesn't go to Kalona he will exact a fiery vengeance on those closest to her. Will Zoey have the courage to chance losing her life, her heart, and her soul? Find out in the next spectacular installment in the House of Night Series, Tempted.

bad narrator

like other have said. do not care for the new, again, narrator. several parts there is a lot of background noise, doors closing, a male talking. very hard to push on.

Unfortunately the new narrator kind of ruins it

Not to be mean but did the new(again) narrator ever listen to the previous books? Did she hear how the names have been pronounced for the entire series? And did anyone in charge ever listen to it? The entire vibe of the writing has changed also but then add the new narrator and this book totally lost its luster. I enjoyed reading it more than listening but I do wish they would get back to normal for the series.

Voice

I couldn't get over the voice, mispronouciated too much. Also she would continue one voice to the next so it would sound like the same person telling what's going on, when really it was a different character.

Pronunciation

I can handle when a series changes narrators (so long as the narrator is decent) but what really drives me crazy is when you can tell the new narrator didn’t bother to listen to previous books first. Audible please start insisting on it. It drives me insane when a certain word has been pronounced one way before now and the new narrator is clueless and uses a different pronunciation. It really takes away from the overall enjoyment I would other wise have for the book.

Horrible Narration

I started listening to the series because my wife likes it and would put it on at bed time. I got interested in the story and have been following along. The series is a bit too "teen romance" for me, but the story isn't bad.

The narrators for the first five books were o.k. - not much skill in voice modulation or theatric presentation, but at least appropriate to the age of the main character - Zoey, a 17 year old girl.

The narrator for this book, however, is one of the worst I have had the misfortune of listening to. She sounds like she is 8 years old and has a high-pitched, nasal voice that reminds me of "Alvin and the Chipmunks". The narrator also mispronounces several words, and tends to increase the pitch of her voice when portraying other female characters - which makes this audio book truly painful to listen to.

Unless you enjoy the sound of finger nails scraping a chalkboard, you should save your ears and get the dead-tree version of the book.

Narrator switch again!!!

The plot was just OK.The narrator wasn't even close to OK.Monotone, boring, and unable to change her voice for each character. If the Cast authors want to continue their popularity, I would suggest sticking with the same narrator for a single series. I doubt I will get the next book if there is another change and the plot needs to at the very least be more than we already know. This could have been a short intro to the next book.

Narration totally lacking.

The story is great but I'm so tired of the narrator. They need to bring back Caitlin Davies.

LOVE the book and series, however...

Fell in love with these books years ago. Loving listening until this book. VERY hard to ignore the readers cadence. The tone and voice not suitable for the content. I will power threw to the next one!
