Publisher's summary

"Mother taught me to be polite to dragons...."

Daystar never thought he'd be walking through the Enchanted Forest with a magic sword, a fire-witch, and a baby dragon. He never dreamed his mother, Cimorene, would tell him to leave their home and not to return until his task was complete. Or that he alone held the power to release King Mendanbar and the Enchanted Forest from the wizards' evil spell. He doesn't even know who King Mendanbar is.

But Daystar learns quickly, and that's good, because he's about to encounter magic and wizards and dragons - quite a deadly combination.

One of my favorites, now and forever.

All four of these books are wonderful. I would recommend reading all of them. P. C. Wrede is an amazing author.

Live these books!

I absolutely love these books! The only problem I had was that some voices are louder than others.

Great story, excellent cast, uneven volume

I loved the earlier stories in this series, and this one was no disappointment. The writing was excellent, and I liked the cast performance a lot. My big complaint is that the character of Shiara is voiced about half as loud as the rest of the cast. I had to keep turning the volume up to hear her lines at all!

Good book, but some poor performances

This is a good story, with interesting characters. This audio version, however, suffers from exaggerated readings—especially, but not only, Ciara’s—which some actors seem to feel necessary for children’s productions. Screeching and overdone voices distract from the story.

A bit of a boring book

A bit of a boring book compared to the others in the series it should have just been rolled into one straight book but instead of doing that they decided to make the maximum money they could and make two books, what a waste of money.

A great fourth edition

This great fourth edition wraps up what happened in the third edition. A new character daystar without knowing what he’s doing is Sant into the enchanted forest to solve the problem which was left by the wizards. This time we find out more about fire witches. And the rest of the story line is wrapped up. This is as I understand at the last book in this series. However there is a short story. With any luck audible might get the anthology the short story was published in. Personally i have always hoped the author might return to this story line.

Nostalgia goggles

A glorious childhood memory.
One I like to visit at least once a year.
not to mention it's a really fun story.

Charming Fantasy

A nostalgia trip for me. I first read the series in school many years ago and I still find it a charming story over a decade later.
