Publisher's summary

Switched: the first book in the Trylle Trilogy.

When Wendy Everly was six-years-old, her mother was convinced she was a monster and tried to kill her. It isn't until 11 years later that Wendy discovers her mother might have been right. With the help of Finn Holmes, Wendy finds herself in a world she never knew existed - a world both beautiful and frightening, and Wendy's not sure she wants to be a part of it.

Critic reviews

"Vampire and werewolf lovers beware; this trilogy opener offers readers a new take on an unexpected breed of mystical beings. Readers who can suspend preconceived notions and open themselves up to this new interpretation are in for a midwinter version of a good beach read." ( Kirkus Reviews)
"Wendy is a flawed antihero, which helps differentiate her from the throng of paranormal-romance heroines, and the potential for development, both dramatic and romantic, should make readers anxious for the next installment of the Trylle trilogy." ( Booklist)

Forget Everything You Think About Trools

What did you love best about Switched?

Amanda Hocking turns everything you may have known about Trolls and reinvents a new world within our human world. Trolls are not what anyone has envisioned. They are beautiful and powerful. They are not the same big-footed short naive fellows. Not all are evil, but all hold humans as subservient. High-level Trolls switch their own babies with those of unsuspecting rich humans. When the troll child grows up, they bring them back into their fold and collect the fortunes from these same parents. This is a total new vision of those trolls' tales we grow up on as children.

If you’ve listened to books by Amanda Hocking before, how does this one compare?

This was my first Amanda Hocking book.

Have you listened to any of Therese Plummer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Therese Plummer always puts on a great performance.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The closeness Wendy (the hero) feels towards her human brother and that of the human she had replaced.

Any additional comments?

I did find it hard believing Wendy would fall so hard in love with Finn, seeing that she is just in High School.

Loved It!

I've never read one of Amanda Hocking's novels before, and I must say that I really enjoyed this one. Although there are some common romantic themes which tend to dominate all gothic novels these days, this one at least deals with a fresh variety of beings from a unique society that has not been done to death in the mould of vampires and werewolves. Theresa Plummer does a competent job with the narrative and it kept me interested and entertained.

Switched Review

Any additional comments?

A book about trolls?! This was a neat book, trolls were never something I've read about before. There weren't many plot twists in this story that you couldn't see coming but the writing and narration was so good it really didn't matter.I think that this trilogy is just going to keep getting better, I cant wait to read the next one.
