Publisher's summary

From the number-one New York Times best-selling author of the Mistborn Trilogy, Brandon Sanderson, comes the first book in a new, action-packed thrill ride of a series - Steelheart. Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary men and women extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics.

But Epics are no friend of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man you must crush his will.

Nobody fights the Epics...nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans, they spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them.

And David wants in. He wants Steelheart - the Epic who is said to be invincible. The Epic who killed David's father. For years, like the Reckoners, David's been studying, and planning - and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience.

He's seen Steelheart bleed.

And he wants revenge.

A solid start to the series.

Any additional comments?

This was definitely a get the ball rolling story, but it was done very well. Sanderson is one of my all time favorite authors and he doesn't disappoint with this new addition. The action is great asuaual as well as his inclination for a good plot twist, only a part of which I actually saw coming. Its no Mist Born but its well worth the credit.

Fun, fast read

Really enjoyed this. Good story and pacing. Narrator kept you engaged. I hoped not to get hooked on a series but I'm afraid I am. Gonna have to do the next book now.

Great characters! Written well! Can't wait to read more!

I like the story quite a lot. This book reminds me of marvel... but also hunger games or divergent series. Narration is perfect!

Revenge never tasted better...

Would you consider the audio edition of Steelheart to be better than the print version?

Definitely, the audio edition puts you into the middle of the story which the printed version could never do.

What did you like best about this story?

The part where Prof first used the tensors to reduce enforcement soldiers to rubble!

What does Macleod Andrews bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings a better understanding of the book that the reader wouldn't come across on their own. He brings excitement and suspense!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh at some points, when Megan died I felt heartbroken but not enough to cry.
