Publisher's summary

From the number-one New York Times best-selling author of the Mistborn Trilogy, Brandon Sanderson, comes the first book in a new, action-packed thrill ride of a series - Steelheart. Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary men and women extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics.

But Epics are no friend of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man you must crush his will.

Nobody fights the Epics...nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans, they spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them.

And David wants in. He wants Steelheart - the Epic who is said to be invincible. The Epic who killed David's father. For years, like the Reckoners, David's been studying, and planning - and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience.

He's seen Steelheart bleed.

And he wants revenge.

Power corrupts....

....and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Brandon Sanderson's contribution to the super hero genre is stunning, and well worth the read.

Love everything about this production

Would you listen to Steelheart again? Why?

I actually just finished reading it for a second time Sanderson never disappoints.

What does MacLeod Andrews bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

MacLeod Andrews really puts character and emotion into all of the distinct voices. He made out the character Prof to be much more gruff and hard, than if yo were to read the book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

18 year old orphan David lives in a world where people have powers, but power corrupts. He seeks to take down the reigning epic, as revenge for the death of his father.

Any additional comments?

If you're on the fence about this book, and you like action/bildungsroman type books, let this comment be your tipping point. Go for it, and you won't regret it.

Beginning sucks

The start of this book is depressing. It gets better towards the end. Great resolution though.

If you liked "The Boys" on Amazon Prime get this!

This was my first introduction to Brandon Sanderson and his writing, and I am hooked! Great narration, by MacLeod Andrews and his ease at switching voices for each character kept my attention through this whole audio book.

Heck yes

Brandon Sanderson does it again! Glad I gave this one a chance. Don’t expect the WOK cause that can never be repeated. But so fun and I couldn’t stop listening!

The main character is named David, who fights people stronger than him or you could say David and the Goliath

There are Lots of twists and turns near the end. Overall, great book, would recommend
