Publisher's summary

From the number-one New York Times best-selling author of the Mistborn Trilogy, Brandon Sanderson, comes the first book in a new, action-packed thrill ride of a series - Steelheart. Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary men and women extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics.

But Epics are no friend of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man you must crush his will.

Nobody fights the Epics...nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans, they spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them.

And David wants in. He wants Steelheart - the Epic who is said to be invincible. The Epic who killed David's father. For years, like the Reckoners, David's been studying, and planning - and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience.

He's seen Steelheart bleed.

And he wants revenge.

Good story...Good reader

Not your typical Brandon Sanderson novel. I like the story but not as good as his other work. I love the Mistborn trilogy, the Stormlight Archive books, Alloy of Law, Rithmatist, the Alcatraz Smedry books and others are better reads.

I liked the reader very much.

I enjoyed it, and my kids love it.

I really enjoyed this whole series, Sanderson is top on my list of authors and this does not disappoint. I recommended it to my daughter when she was twelve, and she went through the book in a week and wanted more. She got her younger brother into the series and now they both have listened to it at least three times through.

Sanderson's worlds are unique and vivid. I love the time he puts into bringing the reader into the story to share the characters experience.

Enjoyable!

I was reluctant to read this when it first came out. Now, I'm kind of disappointed that I did. I really enjoyed the twist on the villain/superhero trend. Very nicely done!

Interesting twist on superhero genre. 7th grade+.

Decently narrated, and with Sanderson's deliberate, intricate plotting, but written at a low enough level that I can put it in the hands of my 7th graders. Note: does contain some graphic descriptions of violence and death. No explicit sexual content of profanity.

Note: the narrator can grate a bit. occasionally whiny.

Fantastic story - perfect narration

This book was fantastic. I love books that I have no idea how they're going to end and this was one of them. I had some ideas but I just loved the characters in the story. I thought the narration was absolutely wonderful. It felt like there was a different person narrating each individual character. I will definitely be buying the next book and will be getting the audible addition as well because it is so fun to listen to.

Fast paced and entertaining

Good read overall. Unique story idea. Not Sanderson's best though. Nice length. Fun. Liked the characters.
