Publisher's summary

This stunning debut captures the grotesque madness of Underland, as well as a girl’s pangs of first love and independence. Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers - precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.

When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.

Fun & exciting twist

Any additional comments?

One of the better books I have read in a long time. Great plot, characters are well developed, and not only is it a twist on a classic but it also has its own twist. READ IT!

Simply Amazing

What did you love best about Splintered?

That's really, really hard to pinpoint. There were so many things about this book I absolutely loved. The totally new, warped view of Wonderland was fabulous, and the struggle to gain absolute trust from Alyssa between Jeb and Morpheus.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Splintered?

The frozen teaparty, of course! Fantastic!

What about Rebecca Gibel’s performance did you like?

She perfected the different character voices, especially Jeb and Morpheus.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I can't say without giving away too much. The last 1 or 2 hours of the book really throws you for a loop. So many emotions!!

Couldn’t finish it

The concept is pretty good and I really liked the narrator. If you’re into teen angst and romance, you will probably enjoy it. I couldn’t get past the “Jeb is so perfect” and jealousy between Jeb and Morpheus.
I did really like the idea of it, so I gave it 2 stars because the concept is pretty good.

Amazing

I stumbled upon this series because it was recommended and included in my audible membership. let me tell you.. I was VERY pleasantly surprised. I plowed through this entire series in a week.
The characters are well written, the storyline is great, the author is SO descriptive. These books truly immerse you in the world. I found myself falling in love with all of the characters and even crying at a point or two by the end of the series.

I would absolutely recommend these books. Here’s a big thank you to the author! And a thank you to audible for introducing them to me.
