Publisher's summary

NOW A PRIME VIDEO SERIES from internationally bestselling author Harlan Coben

Mickey Bolitar's year can't get much worse. After witnessing his father's death and sending his mom to rehab, he's forced to live with his estranged uncle Myron and switch high schools.

A new school comes with new friends and new enemies, and lucky for Mickey, it also comes with a great new girlfriend, Ashley. For a while, it seems like Mickey's train-wreck of a life is finally improving—until Ashley vanishes without a trace. Unwilling to let another person walk out of his life, Mickey follows Ashley's trail into a seedy underworld that reveals that this seemingly sweet, shy girl isn't who she claimed to be. And neither was Mickey's father. Soon, Mickey learns about a conspiracy so shocking that it makes high school drama seem like a luxury—and leaves him questioning everything about the life he thought he knew.

First introduced to readers in Harlan Coben's adult novel, Live Wire, Mickey Bolitar is as quick-witted and clever as his uncle Myron, and eager to go to any length to save the people he cares about. With this series, Coben introduces an entirely new generation of fans to the masterful plotting and wry humor that have made him an award-winning, internationally bestselling, and beloved author.

intriguing

kept my interest and was well written. Narration was excellent. A little fantastical for a 16 year old to have such physical prowess against seasoned adults but still entertaining

Oookayyyyyy.... 😂

I am giving this book 5 stars because it was excellent. If you’re expecting the typical classic Coben mystery, this book is not for you. However, the book does exactly what it was meant to do, entertain young adults. This is exactly the kind of book I would have drooled over in middle school and High school.

This story is adolescent magic. The main character is a 15 yr old hottie mourning his father while at a new school. He should be popular but he becomes best friends with two witty misfits. They really add a comical element to the story. There are also hot girls and stupid jocks. On top of all of that, murder and a great mystery. Oh, and a creepy old lady in a creepy house LOL.. presto! Adolescent magic 😂

I am 30 yrs old and I was entertained. Thoroughly entertained? Not so much because the story wasn’t written for my age group. Great for what is was. Gift it to your teenagers or let it speak to the teenager in you. Lol

Love this!!!

I love this teenage Breakfast Club meets Goonies mash up story with a hugely surprising cliff hanging ending!! For anyone who isn’t familiar with the character that is revealed in the end, just look it up, he was a real character!!
On to the next one to see what happens next!!

Only spark of interest was in the last 10 minutes.

I kept waiting for this book to get good. The very last 10 minutes were the only part that was interesting for me. The narrator did a decent job but some of the voices were cringe to hear. The story was boring and I was constantly hoping Adventure/action/entertaining parts to happen and was left disappointed.

Very well written, kept you wanting to listen to one more chapter. The characters were perfect together. Kept you guessing right up to the last minute.

Not sure I get all the glowing reviews

I'm rounding up to 4 stars, this book kept me interested and wanting to read more at times, but some of it seemed a little too juvenile for me. I thought I'd like it after all the reviews saying that it wasn't just for teens, and I will agree with that, it just didn't have quite enough to earn that last star. I might consider getting the next one just to satisfy my curiosity on some unanswered questions. I actually bought this after seeing that Amazon Prime had a series based on this. Don't worry, I read the book first, the TV show made some changes of course, but it's still pretty similar, I'd say the book is better but they're not too far apart.

It went fast

I enjoyed both the story and the series. There weee of course some differences, but I feel like the series did the book justice. It was a really quick listen.
