A Delight

What a delightful story. I know this is a teen/YA story but I thoroughly enjoyed it. A decent platform for the start of a new series. Starting with a new blended family, a new school and friends. Suze is a strong character that is kind hearted and wise. She knows what it feels like to be an outsider and refuses to exclude anyone because they are different. Wish more teens would read stories like these, there are definite lessons to be learned.
Johanna Parker did a wonderful job narrating but then she is the reader for the Sookie Stackhouse novels. :)

This works for adults

I saw the review by someone that stated this was not a book for adults and con not disagree more. It my be a little cute at times but the story was good and the writer has put enought depth to make it work for grown people. Maybe it is because I so have teenage kids but I very much enjoyed the book and the serries.

The narrator has an inexplicably southern accent

The book is good. And the narrator mostly does a good job when she remembers to hide her southern "Georgia Peach" accent, It's very out of place considering the main character moves from Brooklyn to California.

Great Book For Adults and/or Teens!!

This is an awesome read (or listen)!! The only controversial issue is there is a death by suicide. However, most teens have heard of the term suicide and therfore it is not that shocking. Anyway, Meg Cabot does a wonderful job with this series! I am purchasing book 2 and 3 right now!

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY, THE DEAD MAY BE LISTENING

What did you love best about Shadowland?

I enjoyed the story and the strength of purpose shown by many of the characters.

What other book might you compare Shadowland to and why?

Shadowland reminded me of SIXTH SENSE, as both dealt with helping restless spirits find peace.

What about Johanna Parker’s performance did you like?

I enjoyed her portrayal of the various characters, her excellent reading, her use of her voice along with her talented expression which made the book even more enjoyable.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

You never know what will "wake the dead" and how they may react.

Story that you can't really tell where its leading

Where does Shadowland rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I'm really enjoying listening to these stories. Johanna Parker is very enjoyable to listen to. The Mediator series is very different from other books and I can't tell where its going to go.

What did you like best about this story?

The uniqueness.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Of course. I finished it in 2 days.

Any additional comments?

Cannot get enough of Meg Cabot's books!!!

Family dynamics, ghosts, and even a bit of romance

The mediator was such a fun read. I love that this book had ghosts…both friendly and unfriendly…a bit of romance, a bit of mystery, and another mediator who happens to be a priest. But most of all, I just thoroughly enjoyed the main character, Susannah, who as a New York girl just moved in with her step family in California, has lots of snark, but is also funny and lovable.

I enjoyed the family dynamics and how sweet it was to see Jesse‘s relationship, specifically with her new younger brother, begin to grow and strengthen. Most of all, though, I was charmed by Jesse and can’t wait to see how their relationship develops throughout the series… even though Jesse is a ghost!

I was also listening to the audible narration of the book which was so well done.
