Would you listen to Scorch again? Why?

I will definitely rerun this book because the story was quite captivating. Plus, I love going back to see if I can find clues I missed prior.

What other book might you compare Scorch to and why?

Any this book holds up to any other Grimm tales that I have read. It was kind of nice to see this from a female's perspective, rather than, the usual male.

Which character – as performed by Jessica Almasy – was your favorite?

My favorite character is still Uncle Mort. Close second, Driggs

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Easy to get engulfed in the story.

    "Great 2nd book in series"
Would you listen to Scorch again? Why?

YES! the Narration was very well done, the story line kept moving and it kept you interested in all the characters. (even the really nasty ones)

What did you like best about this story?

The story line was about young people and how they take charge of their lives, and how they eventually take responsibility for their actions.

What about Jessica Almasy’s performance did you like?

She was perfect for this series, with emotions and voices especially.

    Any additional comments?

Looking forward to the last book in this trilogy. Knowing that there will be an end also makes it more enjoyable. Some authors don't know when to stop. I have a feeling book three will be totally worth the listen.

    Story
"good 2nd book, and lead to 3rd."
What did you like best about Scorch? What did you like least?

the kids came into their own. they grew up, and took the lead for a bit of the book.
for the least. that there was a big jump at the end. fight...end. I needed more. but the next book does put it all in place.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Scorch?

lol, going to all the spots in the kids lives. I liked that. fun, to run the uncle around.

    Which scene was your favorite?

it was the chapter of the kids jumping the uncle all over. I laughed so hard...I could just see it. :)

Was Scorch worth the listening time?

    yes.

    "Awesome sequel"

I usually don't do cliffhangers. Mostly because the sequel sucks. Perfect us the only way to describe this sequel. Lex is my new YA favorite heroine. She is like a little Kate Daniels and that is some high praise. Wonderfully written

    Story
    "Death Heats Up"
If you could sum up Scorch in three words, what would they be?

    Heated Battle Begins

What other book might you compare Scorch to and why?

One of those well-written series books on the level of Eoin Colfer, Jonathan Stroud, Kevin Hearne or Diane Duane.

Have you listened to any of Jessica Almasy’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've only heard her in this series, but she is amazing.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were plenty of opportunities for a chuckle, but the story ragged ahead, dragging you with it.

    Any additional comments?

I am so glad I found this gem or a series!

"Great characters, not so great story."
What did you like best about Scorch? What did you like least?

The characters in the story are witty and likable. The book actually made me laugh out loud. Gina Damico's Grimsphere is a cleverly built world that provides an entertaining backdrop for the story.

Would you recommend Scorch to your friends? Why or why not?

No. There are way too many places where you want to shake someone and shout, "It's obvious! Why don't you do..." And I just want to say that it easier to grab a scythe out of someone's hand than any other item in the universe. It happens all the time in this book. The only thing that is easier take is the ability to damn. SPOILER - The revelation that Lex had been killing bad guys all along just dropped out of thin air. It's like chapters were left out of the book.

    Which scene was your favorite?

SPOILER - I did get a certain satisfaction out of Lex strangling Zara.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    I'd wait for the dvd.

    Any additional comments?

Jessica Almasy does an incredible job of bringing the cast of characters to life.

    "Humorous shenanigans........."

This is Book 2 in the series Lex is in trouble what with her burgeoning powers, an angry scared town of Croak, and a very dangerous Zara.
Much in the same vain as the first book but the situation is running to desperate if Lex is to solve the puzzle, and face Zara.
Lots of tongue in cheek humor, love and action, again a keeper. The characters are the strength of the book an easy entertaining listen. Only whinge is it stops again on a cliffhanger!
