I am a 9th and 10th grade Reading and English teacher, and I downloaded this version of Romiette and Julio so my students could listen to it as they read along.
I ended up not using the audio version for several reasons. The woman reading the novel reads painfully slow. My students are struggling readers, and even they said the woman was going way too slow. She also attempts to do accents for each of the characters, and they are tragic. Her attempt at a Hispanic accent for Julio comes off as more of an Asian-culture sounding accent. My students were too distracted by the ridiculous accents and attempts to read with "emotion" to even be able to concentrate on the story itself.
I am really glad that I was able to download this book with one of my first free credits for joining Audible, because if I had paid full price, I would be highly upset. I'm frustrated that I wasted one of my credits on this audio version.
the accent she uses really bad. story was good over all . Really romantic shows the struggle between interracial relationship. how people could be so close minded love the story hiate the accent that she used but overall it's a really amazing tail
Great book however the narration is incredibly slow. Tried to play it for my class to read along with. We gave up and read aloud.
