Powerful Awesome BOOK

I absolutely love love love this series by Lauren Oliver. She is one of my favorite women authors. If Lauren continues to give us such wonderfully powerful books such as these she will have a bright future.

As for the narrator Sarah Drew I can not sing her praises enough. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED her narration of each character. Especially Lana and Alex's fight scene when he tells her what kept him alive. I was practically in tears from that performance. If I were Lauren Oliver I would insist on having Sarah Drew narrate each and every one of my books. And if she wasn't available at the time I would wait until she is, that's how awesome she is. I would recommend this book, absolutely!

Where there is love there is freedom...

This is an amazing ending to one of my all-time favorite YA series! I am so blown away right now by this story and by Sarah Drew’s brilliant performance.

After the huge cliff-hanger from Pandemonium I knew this was going to be an extremely emotional book. It did not disappoint. The suffering, loss, determination and struggles of the main characters was gut-wrenching. I was pleased that Lauren Oliver choose to write about all aspects of love and the many shapes and forms it takes in our lives. (not just the romantic type)

Like many other reviewers this book left me wanting more. However, I was not entirely disappointed by the ending. It felt real and true to the characters that Ms. Oliver leaves room for interpretation. Not all endings need to be handed over on a silver platter I guess.

However, my own secret wish is that this is not the end of the Delirium Trilogy. It’s just too painful to let go of these characters for now.

End of an Era

Let me start first by saying that I have been nothing but pleased by Sarah Drew's performance. At the end of the book she added some personal comments---she clearly loved working on this series and it showed.

I want to be clear---I highly recommend the series, if you haven't given it a listen.

What I did not like about this book---and it's really just a matter of taste was the back and forth between the two girl's point of view. I really didn't want to (and can I just be candid--1 or two times didn't) listen to Hannah's portion of the story. I'm not sure if that would have been different if I had read this rather than listened to it... because I found myself not caring what happened with Hannah. Perhaps it's because I felt so betrayed by Hannah.

I want to say more---but I don't want to spoil---so in an attempt to be vague I felt bad for one character who I felt really got the raw end of things...

But--all is forgiven because Lauren Oliver had a really successful finish I felt. I will be looking to read her other books.

What made the experience of listening to Requiem the most enjoyable?

Sarah Drew. She's amazing. She makes the story come alive.

What other book might you compare Requiem to and why?

Delirium and Pandemonium, the first two books in the series. There is no comparison I have found for this series; even though there are other dystopian romances out there, none of them have had the emotional charge this one does. I just finished it; I am exhausted.

Which character – as performed by Sarah Drew – was your favorite?

I loved Lena, but I also loved Alex. He was so complex. And I loved his voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yep. All 10 hours. I couldn't stop listening.

Get ready to be wrecked by the end. This is a true emotional roller coaster.

Ambiguous but satisfying ending.

Lauren Oliver is really a joy to read. Her skill level is definitely higher than I've come to expect from YA authors. I also was fortunate to listen to the audiobook version of these books which are narrated by the very excellent Sarah Drew. She especially shined in this book doing both Hana and Lena's voices.

This book has the perspectives of both Hana and Lena. Usually this method doesn't work well but for this story particularly it was great. We get to see the unraveling from the resistances' side and also the cured side. It was especially interesting to me to see how Hana changed after the cure as this concept was intriguing to me from the beginning.

You still have a love-triangle technically in this book but I was okay with it due to the personality change in Alex for the last two books. It's an interesting foil. I also appreciated that there wasn't a lot of make-out scenes. She focused on the real story here - the desire for the freedom to choose.

Female YA authors often can't close the deal on the story. Although I felt it was obvious how the series would end, it was neat to see the details and think about the ramifications on the society. And no epilogue yea! She doesn't feel the need to lay out exactly where things will go but there's enough hints to leave you satisfied.

A let down, but still good

I have been waiting for this audiobook for what seems like forever. After being completely engrossed and transported by the first two in this series Delirium – Delirium Trilogy Book 1 and Pandemonium – Delirium Trilogy Book 2, I jumped at the chance to pre-order on Audible and waiting for an excruciatingly long 2 weeks for it to become available for download, woke up earlier than normal to download and sync to my ipod so I could start listening as soon as possible.

After listening to the first 30 minutes or so I realized that I could remember very little of where the storyline left off, after a while I didn’t care, because I was sucked into the story and couldn’t hardly stop listening. Requiem: Delirium Trilogy, Book 3 is an action packed, edge of your seat, dystopian love triangle adventure set in the future of the United States. Oliver continued her Delirium trilogy magnificently, I could hardly turn it off when someone needed to talk to me. This book is told from the perspective of Lena our well-known protagonist of the series and focuses on her role within the resistance, and from the perspective of Hana, this I believe was so we are reminded how the “zombie” society lives. I would really like to know why Oliver chose to end this story the way she did, it could have been easily continued on into another set of books or actually ended in a way that makes sense. This entire audiobook was an amazing thrill ride until the last 20 minutes or so and then the storyline and everything that Oliver set out to create dissolved. All this being said, if you have read/listened to the previous 2 books you are going to want to finish the series and mostly will not be disappointed.

Sara Drew’s narration completely and totally entranced me, I am pretty sure that this audiobook would have still been good had some one else done the narration, but Drew made it absolutely incredible. Even though Drew has one of those voices that sounds exactly like what I think a teenage girl sounds like, she is so much more dynamic than that. I am going to be looking for more titles narrated by Drew because I like her style and her ability to get my heart pounding.

Sarah Drew reads so beautifully even though I had a paper copy of this book I listened instead. I prefer to read but needed to make a long drive and decided to get the second book pandemonium as an audio book. i was so impressed instead of reading the third I just listened!!

loves requires a "cure" | hmmm...

This is a general review for the whole Delirium series. Maybe 4 STARS isn't fair. After all, I really liked this series. The story and the characters were extremely well-written. If I were a fan of dystopia -- not that this is a dystopian novel, exactly -- I think I would have rated it 5 STARS. It's just that so many bad things happened and, in my opinion, not enough good things were there to even it out. Obviously, that's a personal preference. That being said, it was still really good and I definitely recommend it.
