"Never tease anything that wants to eat you. My name is April Tate and my blood is the new gold. Vampires and hybrids have overrun my world, once vibrant with life, but now a graveyard of death shrouded in shadows. I fight to survive; I fight for my mother and brother. The journey is full of turns that I am quite unprepared for. And I'm just hoping to make it to the next Vegas sunrise..."
In a post-apocalyptic world, a viral epidemic has wiped out most of the earth's population, leaving behind few humans but untold numbers of mutated vampires. April is a seventeen-year-old girl who lives in the remains of Las Vegas one year after the outbreak. She has become a ferocious vampire killer and after her family is abducted, she goes searching for them. What she finds is a new breed of vampire, unlike any she has seen before. Unsure of whom she can trust, she discovers that her view of the world is not as black and white as she once thought - and she's willing to bend the rules to rescue her family. But in trying to save them, she may only succeed in bringing her fragile world crashing down around her.

This was a well told and well thought out story. the narrator did a great job.
So nice to see vampires that aren't all glitz and glam.
April is strong and doesn't give up. The world is not what it used to be. She and her family have adjusted to the changes. But, they had no idea what else was out there in their new world.
Suspense, action, a bit of romance...this all made the story flow.
Horrible author with horrible writing and a bad narrator. I finished it because I finish all books I start to give them a fair chance but this was so so so hard to get through. She's a piss poor writer it almost upsets me that she was able to get published. She repeats her way of describing things constantly and her vocabulary is terribly limited. She attempts romance and it ends up being embarrassing to read. The action is stupid the character is stupid. The narrator does horrible high pitched noises. So horrible. What a waste of my life.
Since I bought this series twice, the E-book and know the audible it goes without saying that I love this series! But listening to it just made it that much better. I love the characters and the twist and turns the story takes.
EOD wife and loving mother!!!
I was very disappointed in this read. The "love story" felt like it was just throw in there with little thought. It is also pretty unbelievable that the main character went hotel by hotel along the strip and checked the entire place. Those hotels are HUGE! I did not find the main character very likable either. There are much better books in this genre.
