Publisher's summary

22 Arcana cards. 22 young assassins. May the best hand live. Introducing The Arcana Chronicles from number one New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole.

She could save the world - or destroy it.

Sixteen-year-old Evangeline 'Evie' Greene leads a charmed life, until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future - and they're still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux.

But she can't do either alone.

With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can't totally depend on Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?

Who can Evie trust?

As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But ii's not always clear who is on which side....

Expect the Unexpected..

Would you consider the audio edition of Poison Princess to be better than the print version?

Probably not but it was a very consuming audiobook.

What other book might you compare Poison Princess to and why?

I have nothing to compare it to, I normally don't ask read apocalyptic novels but this one had me snared.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene by the barn was pretty intense. But the ending was probably my favorite.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I could have yes, but breaking up made the enjoyment last longer.

Any additional comments?

Evie, Jack, the whole cast will enthrall haven't doubt.

#Spoilers alert# Arcana Chronicles

I loved everything about Poison princess, matter of fact once I started listening to it I couldn’t put the book down. When I saw 20 mins left I immediately downloaded the 2nd book endless knight, I was so pumped, squealing on my couch cuz I so wanted to know what happened next. Then I got to half the book in endless knight and the fool started saying she had to seduce death, at first I thought ok, if it’s in other to get out of capture and back to Jackson, that’s reasonable. Then they started hinting to her falling in love with death and I thought NOoooo, please don’t do that to Jack! I love Jack, I don’t care if he doesn’t have powers, the guy is genuinely trying his best and has done everything to prove that he loves her. I stopped listening and went to see the comments and she sleeps around with both Jack and death. Guys I have a pet peeve, I absolutely cannot stand those characters that cannot make their mind and end up dragging both guys around worse, sleeping with both of them. If you were in love with someone and find that you suddenly love someone else please make a clean break and go with that person, don’t drag people along. I’ve been listening to a lot of books and absolutely hate those where the heroine has 2, 3, 4 mates. That’s gross, would u be happy if that was done to you? And worst again when she gets upset when another female looks at one of those guys. I’m like hello! It’s not like you are with him alone. I believe if you truly love someone you will stick by that person and not look the other way. I was so upset when I got that hint because I truly love this book and wanted to know what would happen next but I can’t stomach her doing that to Jackson. I’m so disappointed, I thought I finally found a good book to listen to. I don’t care if death is a saint and loves her like crazy so I’m not listening to his story because at the end of the day I will not be swayed, if she wants to be with him then she should make a clean break with Jackson and not sleep around, that’s disgusting. I’m out, off to look for a true love story.

Nice fairy tale

Until it became too much unrealistic the book was interesting, however the rest of the story was just a time pass.

awesome once it takes iff

it's a little slow to start getting used to the narrator's voice but once you make it through a few chapters the book is absolutely wonderful and you start to like her voice once you get to know the characters

Creepy and Delicious

This book was not at all what I was expecting, but I absolutely loved it! Exciting and dramatic, dark and funny. I was surprised to find it spicy and addictive. Jack is totally swoon-worthy, with his angry lusty vibes. Post Apocalyptic YA at its finest! Where Evie begins this book and ends was so entertaining and kept me guessing. I went into this with a lot of preconceived notions about YA books and Kresley Cole completely smashed them all. I could not put it down. The alternate POV was very creepy and somehow exactly what I’ve always wanted. 5 stars because Kresley stunned me with this one, I can’t believe I waited so long to read this!

I'm OBSESSED!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Poison Princess?

The ending! It was insane!

Any additional comments?

I’m obsessed with Poison Princess. Really…no lie! I’m totally and completely obsessed. Who would have thought that someone would take the 22 trump cards from The Major Arcana Tarot deck, create characters from them, and then write a totally awesome book? There are so many things that make this book fan-friggin-tastic, and I’ll do my best to tell you why without revealing spoilers.

The whole story was very well done. It starts out in the point of view of this obviously psychotic and creepy dude who has just lured a girl into his home, and that had me terrified of what might happen next. But you don’t get to find out what happens next until quite a bit later because the next scene is in the point of view of the popular girl at school, Evie, who is returning after the normal school summer break. Except Evie’s summer break (little do her friends know) was anything but normal…she spent her summer in a mental institution and has no doubt in her mind that she’s truly insane. But is she really? It’s when the apocalypse happens that she realizes that she might not be so crazy after all.

One of the things that makes this book so phenomenal is the characters. And, even though I can’t say which character I like best because I have so many favorites, each one made me want to learn more about the characters of the tarot. So it’s pretty cool that The Arcana Chronicles website shows all the trump cards and the story character associated with each card. If you want to head on over to The Arcana Chronicles website, go to Fun Stuff and just click on a trump card to flip it over to see if Kresley Cole’s introduced that card in her series. Oh, one last thing! I do want to especially mention one character…Jack Deveaux! Boy is he drool-worthy but, at the same time, what a complete jerk!

There’s action, heartbreak, and romance in Poison Princess…and more than enough complications throughout the last half of the book to make the story move really fast. And then the end is so unbelievably well done! It ties everything up but, at the same time, it leaves you suspended with a phenomenal cliffhanger. It was awesome! This is a must read…like right now. Or, listen to the audio if you like because that’s what I did.
